Mount Sinai ABSN Fall 2019

Published

Hey Everyone,

I thought I would start a page for the fall 2019 cohort Mount Sinai. Looking forward to hearing all your thoughts. I applied just recently. I’m waiting to hear back. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Best,

Those seem like long breaks for an accelerated program...lol I only hope we have those breaks! Hopefully they’ll send us a schedule soon...I still need to take nutrition..thinking of registering through portage learning. Has anyone taken or will be taking a class through that site?

Those do seem like long breaks! I hope we have breaks like that but I'm definitely not going to count on it. I actually received the academic calendar for 2019 from Maria. It wasn't so clear on vacations but I'm hoping that doesn't mean that we don't have any. I attached it here.

Also, I still need to take nutrition as well. I took some classes through Barton online. It's an online program that is part of Barton Community college. The classes I took were great and I'm starting a nutrition class in two weeks that is going to end on July 1 which gives me two weeks to get my transcripts to Mt Sinai. Let me know if you want more information on it.

Thanks for the schedule!! It’s really helpful! For some reason I cannot reach Maria. I’ve emailed and called but still haven’t heard back from her. It doesn’t look like we have any lengthy breaks:/ but we do have off on the holidays here and there. Out of curiosity, where are you guys from? I’m from NYC not too far from Mount Sinai. Also, for the tuition cost do you guys know if we have to pay each semester in full before we start or is there’s payment program? Thanks:)

Ya, Maria Gallo sent me that too- but it's not so clear when the breaks are- since there are multiple programs listed together in one calendar.

Also I'm from queens so also pretty local...

As for the nutrition class- I took it last summer at queens college- it was for 4 weeks in June.

As for a payment program this link gives you all info about the program including payment plans in detail https://www.mountsinai.org/files/MSHealth/Assets/MSBI/Student-Catalog.pdf

V. Tuition Payment Procedures Tuition bills are emailed to students approximately one month prior to the beginning of each semester. Appropriate tuition and fees are expected to be paid in full prior to the beginning of each semester, unless a payment plan is in place. Tuition and all other fees are to be paid at the Office of Financial Aid on the 4th Floor. Tuition may be paid via personal check, money order, bank cashier’s check or credit card. NO CASH PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. An insufficient funds fee will be applied for any returned checks. A late fee of $35.00 is charged for bills not paid on or before the due date on the bill

1. Full payment – this is the regular and preferred payment option.

2. Deferred Payment Plan – Deferred payment arrangements must be made with the bursar’s office one week prior to the start of classes. A one-time fee of $25 is charged to set-up a deferred payment plan. A $50 late fee is charged for EACH installment paid after the due date.

3. A minimum payment of at least one third of tuition & fees is required on or before the start of classes. The tuition balance will be deferred if a payment plan has been established. All financial aid paperwork, including loan applications, must be approved before the start of each semester. If financial aid does not cover the tuition charges in full, the student may combine above options to complete the payment obligation.

Thank you for all this info! One thing I'm worried about is communication with staff/advisors, etc. I hope we can get in touch with them anytime we need their help before and during the program. I hope all goes well when it comes to paying the tuition on time, it's quite a lump sum...

Let me know if you end up doing it so we can support each other through it!???

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time joining. I have also been accepted to the Fall PSON ABSN program.

Congrats to all of you!

I have retired my social media accounts for about 5 months now, so here will have be my main point of contact. I already submitted my deposit. I mailed in by priority mail with other required forms and they received it the next day.

I have also filed my Fafsa and was told they are currently processing financial aid, loan etc for the summer cohort.

I did read that a laptop is mandatory for the program. I am in process of getting a new one, so that will go hand in hand for the hybrid pre-immersion program which is from Aug 5-21 per the acceptance letter.

I will continue to read updates and share whatever I learn up here.

You can also try straighterline. I did a class there as well for $49 with a $100 membership fee which guarantees the credits. I took Sociology, which was a prereq for the AAS class. I showed the class to Ms. Gallo and she approved of it. It was an easy class schedule. 17 Modules and a final exam. I only paid $120 not 149 bc they gave me a discount code. Feel free to look up Nutrition on Straighterline.com and ask Maria about it too. ~MIMI
