Hi everyone, just wanted to start a thread for those of us that applied for Mount's Fall ADN program. The application deadline is coming up next week (4/01/19) and just wanted to keep in touch with everyone that applied for this Fall.
Good luck everyone!

I am registering for classes and was wondering what teacher would you recommend for the adn program Brownell, B or Alvarado, K?
We didn’t have choices in instructors we chose. If we joined the afternoon cohort, we had the afternoon cohort instructors. Dr. Brownell is good though.
Hi
Thanks so much for answering all the questions. I was accepted into the fall 2019 semester. Im excited and nervous at the same time. You've helped relieve some of the nervousness. Congratulations to all the Fall 2019 students. I picked my classes for ther evening cohort with Alvarado, K. Have you heard good things about this Professor?

That is a new instructor so I have no insight on him/her.
Take this from a student who's in the program. Do not go. It's not worth the price. The school overcharges for the education you actually receive. I blame the administrators of the school for how lackluster this program is. Firstly, the education is subpar. Each clinical instructor and Professor questions our abilities in completing skills and tasks. Individuals in the programs are complainers and want everything handed to them with a silver spoon. They are not strict, most of the learning I have done has been because I have applied myself. Secondly, the ADN office is a wreck. Health clearances are a hassle. The program director is not approachable, does not take her job seriously whatsoever. If you have an issue, I suggest going to Dr. Brownell, shes helpful. Furthermore, they require you to take additional classes that are not listed on the catalog, thats an extra few thousand dollars. The school uses Kaplan, because ATI is too expensive. Well, where is all of the money that we are paying going then? The school does not have enough supplies for students to practice on. They always say, "Well its your money to use so..." Yes, exactly I am paying a hefty price for this education so I expect that I have the equipment necessary to develop my skills. The school only has ONE IV POLE for the whole program. Are you kidding me? It's not even the newer ones. Go to a CC, save your money. I wish I had. I came to this school because of the reputation it has, but now I see that it's a subpar.
Dr. Brownell is an excellent instructor. I would highly recommend her. Dr. James and Dr. Brownell were two of my favorites.

Oh my! I preferred to go the CC route but it's difficult to get in. I don't have time to sit around to get accepted in a pool of hundreds of applicants. Thursday seems to be the problem with going the CC route. A lot of us are getting rejected even with an high grades. ? I'm bummed now.

Damn, that much changed already? Didn’t seem that bad when I was a student there.
Also, are you that chick who was talking a lot at that town hall meeting? ?

No I did not attend that meeting, but I heard it was a waste of time.
I have met a few students from your cohort that have expressed the same thoughts as I have. We all agreed that the program is not worth the cost due to the lack of adequate resources and quality of education. The school and program are aware of what state the program is in and hired consultants. If they have to hire someone to tell them what to do, they don't know what they're doing.

It may be that this program is the best option for you especially bc a whole year will pass by without you working towards your education. If I were you I would highly consider attending the school, but it is good to be aware of what to expect. ?
