Motlow Applicants 2014

Hey everyone! Just wanted to create a place for potential Motlow Nursing students for fall 2014 to converse, ask questions, and get to know each other. Anyone out there? If so, which campus do you hope to attend? I live near Lavergne, so Smyrna campus will be my home base.

For those of you who have questions about the process over the next 6 months, I went through all of the application/acceptance/orientation/etc steps last year, but had to withdraw 3 weeks before classes started due to a financial aid fiasco...so I know what's to come and would be glad to clarify anything for you.

Also I wish they would notify us of acceptance or not before registration. I don't know if I should register for the few prereqs I have left or to wait. If I don't get into the program at Motlow I am going to apply for another school since I am going for BSN eventually anyways. I am so ready to see the email so I can plan accordingly :confused:

Has anyone taken micro online? It's available over the summer. From what I've heard it's easier online than on campus but I just wonder how you would do lab for an online class.

I didn't take it online, but I'm pretty sure you would still have to go to campus for labs. I wouldn't suggest taking a web class since it's a pretty in-depth course, especially lecture, but that's just my preference. Either way, good luck! I actually enjoyed Micro quite a bit. Lab was awesome.

Thank you for your advice :) who was your instructor? I've heard horror stories about micro so I'm glad to hear someone say they had a good experience.

I was living in VA at the time, so I took it at Tidewater Comm College. I don't know anything about the instructors at Motlow, so sadly I wouldn't have any recommendations.

Micro is tough, don't get me wrong...it's a lot of info to digest. But I really enjoy labs and such, so growing and experimenting with different types of bacteria was super cool to me. :alien: But, it's not for everyone...lol.

I saw this on the motlow nursing page: [h=2]ATTENTION NURSING PROGRAM APPLICANTS:[/h]Acceptance emails have not been sent. Please be patient, these will be sent within the next two weeks. Please do not call the Nursing Department regarding status of your application.

Does anyone know when this was posted?

Sorry to be so anxious all my nursing friends say they were the same way lol

I took RODP micro online the summer before nursing school. It was the hardest class ever. I hated it. I had virtual labs, I think I only had to show up for a couple of proctored exams. I would not recommend it if you have an alternative. (I thought on campus A&P was super easy) All that said, I would much rather take the awful micro class online during the summer than an on campus micro class along with a nursing class. It's just too much to do both.

Emails have been sent out! I know some people who have received theirs... Good luck to you all! I remember the feeling!!

I got mine on the 2nd day emails went out last year. I'm not sure if they go by name or not, but I know that my scores were higher than some of the scores of the people who received their email. Don't panic!

They are actually sent out over a few days... I got mine on the first day last year so I'm not sure how they do it exactly...
