Hello everyone I'm new to this site and really needed some advice. I graduated for my LN back in Jan. 2014 I took my first test in May 2014 and failed it. I had went over Hurst and Kaplan when the school was paying for it for a couple of months after I graduated. Anyways here it is May 2 2015 and I haven't been back to take it. I have been depressed and Unmotivated but yet I dream about being a Nurse every day. I'm 31 and I been an aide since I been 18 I make $10 an he with 3 boys a single mom and I'm struggling. Every since I failed the test now I feel like I'm not smart enough to pass it. Sometimes I say maybe I need to go to school for something else then I say but I passed Nursing so that should mean something I wasn't a A student more like B and C but I passed. Right now I just have books from school like a Kaplan book and a Med- Surg book. I can't afford to pay for sites like Kaplan online or any of the other ones and that really makes me feel like I don't have enough learning material. If anybody could give me some advice on how to study when you don't have the best learning materials and having lack of motivation feeling like I'm not good enough. Thank you!

Passing school does say something. It says that you tenacity and perseverance. You just need to use that same tenacity & perseverance to get you through the finish (NCLEX) line. I couldn't afford those expensive study tools either. What I did use though was the NCBSN learning extension comprehensive review. I bought the 8 week course for $100. I passed my NCLEX with 85 questions. They also offer a 3 week course for $50 & a five week course for $70. It helped so much. It goes over everything that you learned in school. This review is also written by the people who write the NCLEX! So, who better to study from then the people who write the test. This made a world of difference. Good Luck!

Ok I was in the same boat last year. Stay positive don't throw in the towel yet. I didn't buy all that online stuff I had books: Saunders, Kaplan Strategies, Exam Cram, and PDA (this book was good but more RN to but it made you think), and let me not forget Youtube. Oh the 35-page study guide that's going around on this site. But you have to find what works for YOU.
How focus are you when studying? Are you taking notes, making notes cards, what's your weak area(s), are you understanding the content, or are you understanding what the question is asking (be careful with this), theses are some things to ask yourself.
You really don't want to over do it with a lot of studying materials then you start to get overwhelmed. Once again find out what works for you but Saunders and doing questions 50 to 100 a day (testing myself with the bubble answer sheet) yeah I know I test myself as if I were in school:yes: , note cards, taking notes is what I did.
The first thing you must get out of that negative thinking because there are so many successful stories on this site from people who has taken the NCLEX multiple times. Second get back motivated looking at your babies is motivation. Third show those babies that their mother is a fighter and don't give up easily and about to change her life and there's by becoming a NURSE. If this is something you're passionate about fight for it.
LPN'S I have a question. I ordered a book from Amazon it's called NCLEX PN 2015-2016 I'm answering questions and in the book it said that LPN only do most stabled patient one question was who is the most appropriate and the answer was a 41 yr old in traction with a fractured femur the next question is the LPN received report from the RN which client should be seen first the answer was 52 yr old complaining of chills who is scheduled for a cholecystectomy but then it said this the least stabled patient I thought you picked most stabled like I picked man with left sided weakness wanting to go to commode. Can anybody help me out do you pick least or most stabled or both at times I'm studying for my NCLEX and I'm a little confused PLEASE HELP!!!!

I'm sorry, I read this twice and it isn't making any sense to me. Can you be a little clearer in your question?

Post the question, the answers and what option you think it's right and then we will help guide you to the best answer.
In the meantime:
What does your previous performance report say?
What questions do you need to focus on?
When I studied for the NCLEX; if I wasn't answering a certain category correctly, I would focus on those particular questions after reviewing the rationales; if I didn't understand the rationales, I would go back and use a source to study from. I never written down the rationales to questions that I wasn't getting, I reviewed it, then went to questions that focused on that particular category, meaning these 4:
1. Safe, effective care;
2. Health Promotion;
3. Physiological Integrity;
4.Psychosocial Integrity.
I used ExamCRAM and NCSBN as my sources (NCSBN has links to find information) if I needed to go back and find the rationale.
