There I was, floor supervisor, when asked to assist the M.D. check a patient's Decubitus. The "pt" was a bil. amputee, and had the worst hip decubitus I had ever seen. The M.D. takes a look, and tells me he will need to go to surgery. He wanted me to debridepart of an area he showed me. Much to my SURPRISE!!, I pulled on some eschar, and out came a dead RAT!!! This was the only time I EVER GOT SICK! How Nasty!!
we have wound care nurses that do debridement here.
as for my most disqusting story, it would have to be when i assisted this older nurse give enema to a bed bound pt. she is very prim and proper always well dressed and neatly pressed. i rolled the pt over she administered enema, well he keep saying he could not hold any more she keept going. well finally he exploded all over her. it was disquisting but kinda funny at the same time:)
Since we have started on the "poop" thing..... I had a 350 lb bedbound male who had not had a BM for 7-10 days. After trying all the traditional over the counter stuff I called the MD at midnite for an enema order. Anyway a PCT & I went into the room & administered the enema & I disimpacted him. After it was all over, he asked what he had given birth to & did we need to name it. I have never seen that much.... ever. The diameter of a large summer sausage & the legth... The PCT & I both lose it when we talk about it.

I had said some really wonderfully sharp edged remarks here, but I will keep them to myself. Thank you.
