mosby's cat test for nclex

Published

well, i paid the 40 bucks and took it. it was much harder than i thought. all sorts of stuff i never heard of, and i'm guessing like mad. then the test stops after 75 questions and says i've got a 99% chance of passing the nclex.

so i feel both humbled and relieved. i haven't opened a book in the last 4 1/2 months between my last excelsior exam and the cpne. i suppose the thing to do is start reviewing. i feel like i don't know anything. at least, it seemed like those questions were from angles i'd never considered.

the deal seems to be pretty good. you can take it as many times as you like over the next 30 days. mosby is a well respected player in health care publishing. i think it's great tool for nclex prep.

i'm also using the suanders disk.

That's weird. I also bought the online testing product but it worked perfectly for me without the need to phone them for ID or anything. And I live in South Africa, so a call to get ID would probably have double the price of the product, hee hee!!

It's a great product, btw. The only problem factor is that if you quickly and consistently do very well on it, and move quickly into the high-range-of-difficulty questions, you will find that in future tests you will see lots of those questions repeating themselves. In other words, that dBase of 1800 questions includes a LOT of questions that are ranked lower in difficulty. I also got the 99% probability of passing score, every single time I took the test, but by the end of my access period, over 50% of the questions I was seeing I had seen before in previous tests. I asked Mosby about this and they said that the product probably works best for someone who starts out initially as a low-scoring test takers who uses it and improves steadily throughout the 30 day window period.

Hi!

My test was an absolute horror HORROR HORROR - I kept guessing and guessing trying to use strategies learned using Saunders. My probable passing rate was 94% and of course I was (and am) petrified...

geena, that's the way it's supposed to be. i only remembered one question in great detail, got out of the exam and yep, i missed it, though i was certain i passed.

how many questions did you have? it seems like you used the right approach.

I have not touched Mosby CAT since. Went back to Saunders and 100Q a day, will do Mosby again when I get home (five days guys!!!!) and have internet access hich does not cut me off every 5 minutes.

My Mosby CAT was 75 Qs and compared to Saunders - in my opinion more tricky.

I am sitting the actual exam 06/26 in FLA.

well, the nclex will seem even trickier, but i'd say you'll pass for sure if you did that well on mosby's cat. sounds like you're preparing well.

That is for the Assess Test, not for the CAT. The assess test login is sent after you have a graduation date, but before the actual date ... it is the whole test, 265 questions and you take it ONCE.

The CAT is the computer adaptive test to simulate the real deal, and you can take it an unlimited number of times within that 30 days. There is a glitch on the site that seems to be more than the 'sometimes' they say it happens, but a quick phone call and they set you up and you can get going right away.

I've taken the CAT 3 times so far, and the assess, and all give me a 94-95% probably of passing. I'll probably be at the computer all day tomorrow, I test on Wednesday! 94 just doesn't seem right to me, or realistic when I am only getting about 68% correct! So I'd be interested in seeing how accurate that prediction really is.

Do you know percentage I need on Mosby's CAT to be reasonably sure that I would pass NCLEX?

Thanks.

I AGREE!!!! I got a 73% and it told me I had a 94% chance of passing and a 74% and it said I have a 99% chance of passing. The only think I can think of is that is is basing your chance of passing on the difficulty of the question.

Update about your NCLEX test today when you can, good luck
