Personally I have always LOVED my sister's name (it was my mother's maiden name) Her name is Vana.
Yeah, I know we all know who Vanna White is (Wheel of Fortune). But this name is special because it is a family last name (my mother's family were immigrants from Czechoslovakia). My grandfather was annoyed by it. He used to call my sister by her middle name (& added an ie to it): Jeanie.
And yes, Vana is very unique, just like her name. She was a bit rebellious when growing up too! LOL (I don't know if names have any bearing on rebellion, but my son Rory (19 years old), is also a rebel... my DH named him from the baby name book)
Another unusual name: my poor nefew Angel. He was a premie & his dad named him b/c he said he looked like an angel.

Did see where Penn Gillette of "Penn and Teller" named his daughter "Moxie Crimefighter"? Atleast he has lots of money to pay for the therapists! :chuckle
Yeah, but Penn's a freak anyway.
A friend of mine from high school named her daughter Grayson. I have no idea where she got it but I like it.
I went to school with twin boys...Steven & Stephan(Stephan pronounced "Steffan")
One of my best friends has a grandmother named Jewel.
But in my family...we all have 'normal' names. Just some wierd nicknames...I've got a Great-Aunt "Tootie", an Great-Uncle "Beans" (he's married to "Tootie") and I had a Great-Aunt "Skip" (who was "Tootie"s sister). :)
My grandmother passed away seven years ago but her name was Jewel. She was born Jewel Dean Patton (married to become Jewel Dean Reece)
Penn Jillette, half of the comedy duo of "Penn & Teller" became a father on 6/3/05. He & his wife have named her Moxie CrimeFighter Jillette. What a dolt.

Magic Baby: Moxie CrimeFighter
NEW YORK, June 4, 2005
Comedian/magician Penn Jillette's latest stunt did not involve his usual sidekick, Teller: He became the father of a baby girl.
Jillette, 50, and his wife Emily, 39, welcomed Moxie CrimeFighter Jillette on Friday, according to publicist Glenn Schwartz. It was the first child for the couple, who married last year.
"We chose her middle name because when she's pulled over for speeding she can say, `But officer, we're on the same side,"' Jillette explained. "`My middle name is CrimeFighter."'
The typically mute Teller had no comment on the new arrival.
Penn & Teller currently star in their own series on Showtime, and headline nightly in Las Vegas at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
There is a radio station in Saint Louis called
K-SHE
in the home town where I am from there is a girl whose parents named her that, exact spelling.
I have seen a shitheada, now what does that look like to you?
I have seen the usual Tequila and Tankaruay.
I have also seen Placenta several times.

My oldest daughter, who is almost 11 is named Ashlyn Nicolle...
Wnen she was born I think the nurses thought I had a speech impediment and I ended up having to write down paper for them...
To this day she still gets called Ashley or Ashland, which irritates her to no end
She thinks it is kind of neat since we had to have everything for her custom made.
My youngest daughter is named Madison and I had a goofy aunt that when she was born 8 years ago and had never heard of the name and she lived in a Metropolitan city...
