A while ago, my cousin heard a woman calling her two kids in a department store. She remarked on the unique names, and asked how they were spelled. The lady told her, "lemon jello and orange jello" (Lemonjello and Orangejello).The names sound different than they are spelled---with the accent on 'mon' and 'ran' with a French sounding J. Not bad to the ear--but wow---interesting spelling!
This has to be 1 of the greatest threads ever so I will add my experience;
I am an identical twin our names are Sandy and Candy(our parents were 20 when we were born and chose to call us that rather than the usual Sandra or Candace, and that is how its on our birth certificates: Sandy and Candy
My sis just named her first girl Railyn (I think its pretty and different: Sis's husbands name is Ray
My ex took me to his hs reunion and I actually met face to face with Harry Dick, rumor has it that his mothers name is Aphelia (I feel ya) Dick.... God I hope not.
a set of cousins named Hunter, Trapper and Gunner
A set of twin at the hospital where my sis delivered Michael and Miekle
It just kills me, but my SO wants to name our little boy (should we have one) Shlomo. It's a Jewish name, but neither of us are Jewish! I've always like the name Mealora (pronounced ma-LAU-ra), but he doesn't like it. For a girl, my SO wants Elspeth.
I think we should let someone else pick... :chuckle
... because I heard about it in nursing school, 15 years ago. I've told people about Orangelo and Lemongelo since then, and everyone says it's an "urban legend". If you checked them in.... then you know it really happened!
I once checked in twins in the er.....Orangejello and Lemonjello....what was this mom thinking????

the best is that the parents who couldnt spell their childrens name properly get mad at YOU when you actually pronounce it according to its spelling.. should be mad at themselves i think...
