Moorpark College Spring 2016

Published

Hi everyone, this thread is for those who recently applied for the Moorpark College ADN Spring 2016 program and would like to discuss the upcoming wait process, TEAS invite/exam, etc.

Best of luck to all of us!

:)

@ Artusoa

what were your GPAs? Core science and overall? If you don't mind me asking.

And I just re-added and I do look like 79.5 as my points. Wish I had a few more to make it to the 80's. =/

My Core Science is a 4.0

My Overall is a 3.0

So I guess that's 40pts and 6 pts

No repeats or work/volunteer

2.5 points for the "need to work" while doing pre-reqs

2.5 for fluency in French

Then in the TEAS section I got 29/30 of the points.

I hope I added those up right.

I just hate not knowing what is usually a good range to be in. I almost want to think anything like 75 and up is really competitive and good enough to get someone in. I just don't see why this thread doesn't have more input! The other school I applied to, the thread is like nonstop. ]:

Edit: I also am planning on doing my CNA if I do not get in this round, because that's a good amount of extra points to have. And I wish I had the ability to not work while in the program ]: I moved to California by myself and stupidly live in Thousand Oaks where everything is so expensive, lol. I'll still probably work about 20some hours a week. But I'm a nanny only, so I utilize the time the girls are sleeping to study >:]]

The COC thread? Because, yeah I have seen that is very very active! Have you heard back from them or do you know when to expect to hear back from them? I almost applied there but did not want to drive out there. May change my mind. LOL My Bro in law lives right by there by a few miles with his family. I could crash in their guest room. Should have thought of that. I used to drive for a year to work in Glendale. I am in NP close to TO. It was a drive!! Fingers crossed and hoping to hear next week. Just keeping busy this week to distract myself. Worked last night and did not sleep. Work again at midnight. My patient has PNA and stayed up all night. I feel bad for him! But also me-no rest. OK gotta sleep!!!!

I got an e-mail last week from COC saying I was eligible for selection and that we will be hearing back between October 12-20th. So that's like soon, soon which is nerve wracking to think too >__

It is definitely a drive though! And a lot of hills on the way haha - I drive a tiny little Chevy Spark and that thing tries so hard to make it up and down the grade. So COC is definitely my second choice school, given the distance obviously. But I'd make the drive if it was my only option.

I go to Moorpark now, so ideally I would just like to stay there. I'm thinking I'll call the Health Science Dept. Monday to ask about when letters are going out - that way all their test dates are at least over with, since I know there still is one tomorrow.

Anyone call yet and ask about when acceptance letters are being mailed?

If no one has, I can when I'm off work

So I called this morning. They said they they "weren't sure when they were going to mail letters out because they're still working on them so hang tight"

Ugh

They had to have gotten the last TEAS scores today. So now it is adding points. Just wonder how long it will take them. They have to be using a computer spread sheet and just entering the points and then have them put in order. So, if that were the case they only have to put in the last set of TEAS scores. I at least hope so because that means a lot less to do and letters go out sooner. I will be stalking the mailman for sure!! Have you heard from COC? I received my email from SMC to test (NLN-PAX-not TEAS). I am hoping to get an acceptance BEFORE I need to test and I can stop studying for the exam and start going over medication math. =)

I just wish we had some idea of a cut off score for like the last couple admission cycles. I saw that someone got in this fall 2015 with 73 points. I can only hope that's still the same for this application cycle! Haha. But since it's the 26 for orientation, they have to be doing it fast. I'm just bummed she couldn't give an estimate of when they would be sent.

I haven't heard from COC yet but I know it's supposed to be any day now. Moorpark is still my top choice though so I want to hear back from them soon too! Ugh ):

You know they also allow in a small number that 'qualified' but did not have the top scores. I think it is around 15% BUT that is a small number. If there are 30 then it is 4-5 people. They can enroll from 30-50 students. It seems to change every semester. I think it is basedon how many are still currently in the RN program. If more drop/fail out then more get in. If less drop/fail out then less are accepted. Too much speculation will drive us nuts. I am going to try and just be patient and wait. I did the best I could and will just try to add points if I need to for the next semester. I can still get CNA and take one more semester of Spanish. That is four more points. I've heard of those who retake TEAS and do worse-so won't be hoping to need to retake the TEAS anytime soon. lol

I've already gone nuts just waiting through this entire process, haha.

It'll be nice to finally have an answer, and hopefully a good one!

Let's just keep each other posted with letters or any info we get on this last stretch of the process!

I think it's the worst though that it's through the mail and waiting longer with possibly nothing at all, I'll never get over that lol

Guys i just got a call from the nursing department, im in for spring!!!! Omg

Im literally freaking out! I have to go in after work to pick up my letter, did anyone else get a call!?

OH CRAP! I got a call earlier and was driving and my voice mail is broken. I tried calling back. What number was it??? Name of person? in box me directly PLEASE!
