Congrats HWells!!! In box me and Artusaofa if you would like with real name. Mrm822 many many alternates get in! You still have to go to the open house/tea on the 26th -right? Did you ask if there is anything to sign to agree to be an alternate? Hae you applied anywhere else? Hang in there-I know it is hard but this can still happen. See everyone on the 26th!

I went and signed my alternate acceptance and I will also have to attend the open house on the 26th. The woman I talked to in the office wasn't able to tell me how many people were on the alternate list or how they are chosen from said list. When I asked her if it's numbered like a waiting list she said no, which doesn't really make sense to me...how do they choose then?

Also some of the Alternates may not even show up or sign the paper. If anyone misses the open house then the next alternate (?guess not sure the order...) gets in. SO if you are deemed to be a good candidate and an alternate and an accepted student goes to another college then you may just get in then. Some get called right up until it is close to school starting. Hard on planning but it happens. What were your points and experiences? etc.

Some accepted even sign their acceptance letter and then renig after getting accepted elsewhere. SO hold hope and do everything you need to.

Hi Meerkats, congrats on the acceptance!

Can you tell me a bit about what your process was like as an alternate last semester? Did you accept the alternate spot? do you know if and how many alternates did get in? how many of the steps (open house, document turn in, etc.) did you follow through before knowing you weren't going to be accepted? Did they ask you to do anything else before applying again?

I'm alternate this semester :/ and I'm just trying to figure out how this is going to play out

Irais816- hoping a spot opens up for you. It DOES happen so just make sure you do all the stuff like sign your acceptance of the alternate spot.

Hi MRM822,

I did accept my alt spot last semester, as an alt you have to do everything as if you got accepted. It's kind of sucky, not knowing. When I went to the Open House/TEA there was a sign in for accepted students and a sign in for alts, I wanna say there was a good amount of alts like 25?? Close to the end of the open house, they passed out acceptance letters to about 6-8 alts letting them know they got in I'm guessing from students who did get accepted not showing up. Unfortunately I was not one of those. I had to get the physical, order my scrubs, get my TB tests, CPR card and fire safety card. I did everything but order my books and register of course. We also had to go to the orientation the week before class started and if students didn't show up I'm guessing we would have gotten in, but everyone showed up. Its a bit stressful not knowing, especially for me who likes to plan ahead. Now that in in for spring I have to do everything all over again! But I'm pretty sure a fairly good amount of alts did get in, they don't tell you where you are on the list you just have to wait for a call. Moorpark is one of the first to send out acceptance letters so people will

always drop if they get into another school of their choice. I got accepted to MP and Pierce and will decline my spot at Pierce for an alt to have. Good luck to all alts in sure most of you will

Thank you so much your response, Meerkats18! That sounds so incredibly frustrating but I'm glad you made it in this time. I really hope I don't have to go through all of that. Fingers crossed.
