Montgomery College Nursing Spring 2015

Published

So I figured I would start a new thread for those applying to Montgomery College in Spring 2015.

I had applied to the nursing program in the fall of 2015 but was put on a "wait list" which was not used because my AP 1 and 2 were over 5 years old. I have since taken a pathophysiology class and so now the AP 1 and 2 will be counted towards the four core course requirements. I have a 3.45 GPA, I scored an 82.7 on my Teas, and I have all four of the required prerequisites finished.

I really hope I get in this time or I don't know what I am going to do. I have heard the spring semester is easier to get in which makes sense because you don't have all the high school seniors that will be graduating applying. Anyway good luck to everyone applying!

They change the curriculum, now you cannot get any question wrong in the med calculation exam.

Oh no! Is it every semester? What class is it for? Thanks!!

Yes, it is for every semester. It is not for a specific class, they don't teacher it (med calc), you have to learn on your own, then when you are ready you take the exam. Of course there is a deadline too.

Dosage Calc easy? Maybe if you're good at math and have had chemistry. But I am not good at math and have never had chemistry. Maybe I should take it over winter break... I am not happy you can't get any wrong now. LOL. Do they give you a couple of chances to pass or is it one time only and if you don't pass you're out of the program? AHHHHHH. Scary!

This is a dumb question, but can you use a calculator on the exams?

Yes, I believe they do allow calculators.

You have two chances to pass it. After two chances you gotta see a counselor, then if you still don't pass, I am not sure what's gonna happen. I don't think you need to worry about it, seriously. There is a lot more things to worry about lol. Trust me!

Yes, they give You a calculator.

Also, I wouldn't take any chemistry class over the winter. I took chemistry already, and it is not only a hard class but I don't see how that's gonna help. Take your time over the winter break to read and really understand the reading assignment that they gonna give us on the registration.

I am not that good at math either but I don't think his is really a big deal. I mean I worry about it but I think as a nurse you have to be aw to do these conversions and I am sure that the stuff we learn in class will be much harder. I think the dos calc will be easy if you just memorize the formulas and conversions like how to convert microliters to milliners and how many ml are in a teaspoon. There is plenty of info and study material along with numerous practice tests you can take. I really would not worry too much about it.... Just stay focused and study hard

Swolfe, i could not have said it better.

Thanks, girls.

Anyone have a stethoscope yet or looking at ones they want? I have one picked out, but some of the reviews say that it's really heavy around their neck, so I may not go with that one after all.

Hope_is_w_feathers, they like anynore from littmann. I already have mine.
