Montefiore- Interview Process

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all. Was hoping someone could help describe the interview process to me at Montefiore. I am a new graduate, and have an interview with HR this week. Do they hire right on the spot after the interview with HR? Also, if I am hired, I'm curious about what the orientation process is like for new graduates. Any help/advice/comments would be great! Thanks :)

Kings County a city hospital in Brooklyn. Montefiore takes so long with their process, I could not decline one job just to wait for another. KC is a good place also and it's a public hospital so a lot to see/learn there.

Nice!! Im so happy for you, thats how I felt when I took my offer. I start Monday. What dept will you be in?

Did you apply online? How long dud it take you to hear from them for an interview? I applied online in January but nothing yet but I am a new grad so that could be it. This is so frustrating. How was the interview?

To KC or Montefiore? I applied online to the two of them and I had no connections (I did not know anyone working there). I got a call from each a month later. At KC, the interview is with the Asst Director of Nursing for the unit you are being considered for while at Montefiore you have to do a HR interview and then later you get called to interview with a Nurse Manager.

The interview with the Montefiore NM came 3 months after my HR interview hence a long wait. KC was much faster, about 2 months total for whole process of interview to offer (and this is with some delay as the first shift offered did not work for me and then a position on an earlier shift opened up) but not counting the physical exam and paperwork for background check. the Montefiore pharmacology exam is done at the HR interview and is very easy while the Kings County pharma exam is after the conditional offer and the exam is challenging and you have to pass with a 90%.

I was a new grad also with 6 months of working as RN at pediatric outpatient clinic when called for the interviews. And I heard of way newer grads with no experience or anything getting hired. So I dont know how some had it faster I guess they knew someone. If you do not know someone it takes longer. by your picture it appears you (SherluckyRN) are a male so it should be easier to get hired. In the meantime volunteer or get a related job, get ACLS, PALS, IV certifications (and NRP if you have interest in L&D or NICU) as these help to get noticed.

Estrella are u gonna be on l&d?

Thank you Estrella. I'm a female tho. I love idris Elba that's why I pos that pic lol. I have an interview with a Hosp upstate next week so I'm hoping to land it

Good luck Sherlucky!!!

Hey guys does anyone know the starting salary for a new grad at montefiore?

Masot98, I would say $40 hr not sure exactly but that's what lot if the private hospitals in NYC pay. 40-43$/hr
