  1. Im not too sure about the hospital and the working environment there but I do know nurses start 100k salary. My friend went to an interview there few mths back but didnt accept the job as it would have been a 1.5 hr drive to work.
  2. This is the route that medicine is trying to take which is community based care. Opening clinics, ambulatory surgery. NSLIJ has started that in many of the hosptials they aquired especially Glen Cove. The theory behind it or should I say research is that if you treat them in the community they are less likey to return to the hospital for same dx. If a patient return within 30days of a discharge for same dx then hospital does not get reimbursed. So in order to have the business side of things on the up they realize opening hospital based clinics will prevent many unnecessary readmissions.
  3. Glad I can help. Good luck with everything
  4. Its noy necessarily hard to get into icu as a new nurse but its all about your delivery during interview and resume. As you know a few bew grads start in icu but the best is to keep contact with nurse managers in icu when u start clinicals. Another thing would be to try and start in ED, step down unit or telemetry, critical care unit. Its easier to trabsfer into icu from there. I started in a catch all step down unit upstate and moved back to nyc where im working in icu
  5. I saw one for planned parenthood out in long island last week. Cant remember where in long island exactly. Are you willing to travel? If so check their website. I think it was smithtown. Also apply with an agency n see if they have any.
  6. Have u checked planned parenthood and clinics?
  7. The position has started since april 21 or will start april 28. I went to an interview for telemetry floor and the lady wanted me to interview for the critical care fellowship when I never applied. I interviewed with the CTICU nurse mgr and she told me that they will be starting apr 21 or 28. The were finishing up with interviews. I didnt get a call bavk from them but went with an icu position with nslij
  8. I wouldn't go to white glove because I feel that they are too pushy. They expect to accept an assignment that im not willing to do and I feel like they kept harassing me through emails and phone calls to do the assignment when I clearly said no. Then I wad offered a full time position from a hospital and the lady made it seem like the hospital offer wasnt true and that theu can always rescind on their offer and I will always need their agency. I said thank u but no thnk u I no longer need or want your services.
  9. Just take a deep breath..woosah..i too failed on my first try. I didnt use any classes just saunders book and ati that my school had us do but I was also going through alot of family issues and didnt give enough time to studying. After that itook matters into my own hands. I was devastated but enrolled in kaplan and the class helped me so much. I believe in the decision tree and I went home and just did questions. Wrote them out and answered them.I didn't go home and review the book. Just did the qbank and the qbank app on iphone. I also downloaded 1000 tips for nclex on amazon onto my kindle. Helped me so much. Good luck. I passed at 76 but when I failed I had 265 questions. Believe in your self and be confident. You know the material its just a matter of knowing how to answer the questions and choose the best answer
  10. Thank you. Can you tell me what questions they asked you? I hope you get called soon. These hospitals take a long time but patience is a virtue
  11. I agree..I I'll ask them to define their weekends as I will be doing nights. My last job for wkends u can do fri, sat or sun night. I'll ask thnk u
  12. Did you ever get a call back from Montefiore? I have an interview in a week
  13. I am SDA and actively searching for a new job but I wanted to know when is the best time to let interviewers (nurse mgr) that u cant work on sate since its the Sabbath. The job im at it came up anout scheduling and I was upfront said I cant work Saturday days but can do sat nights but not fri nights since its every other weekend hence why I've always worked on nights. When its my wkend to work I just do sat and sun night. I dont want to bring up the topic too late. How do I go about this?
  14. Students wouldnt necessary be called to court. They have no license and their malpractice is thru the school but they hv so much leeway bcuz they are learning under a licensed RN who should be supervising. At the end of day it comes down on the RN so cya at all times. Computer or paper charting still the same
  15. Also check out the nclex discussion forum. It helped me so much a few yrs back. Read ppl questions and the responses and diff study guides are on here for the nclex which were so helpful to me. Helped me pass along with Kaplan
