  1. Starting a DNP program in May 2018, whats the best way to prepare prior to school beginning. Any advice is appreciated!
  2. Just accepted a SICU position in a level 2 hosp where I currently work, doing med surg at the moment and have level 1 OR experience. Hope I don't have these experiences, reading all this is making me nervous [emoji189][emoji189][emoji189]
  3. trisharnsicu - thanks for the response. I'll be doing ICU training classes for at least 32hrs and not quite sure of the ready of the "training". I start in 6 weeks so I wanted to know what to would be most helpful to study or research in the meantime. I bought an ICU and hemodynamics book to start reading. But anything else....?
  4. Hello everyone! I just accepted a job in SICU at a level 2 trauma center where I already work on a med surg unit, also have OR experience at a different level 1 trauma center. I would like take the opportunity to prepare as I will not be starting until 1/31/16. What are some ways I can prepare, what books do you guys recommend??? What are some things some of you experienced nurses feel orientees should do or go over prior to coming on the unit? Open to any feed back. Thank you!
  5. I'm an OR nurse who is trying to transition out of the OR. My dream has always been to be an ICU nurse but after countless of applications, I could never get into a hosp. The OR was my "IN" into a level one trauma center and now my probationary period is over, I applied and was called for an interview in MICU. Does anyone have any tips on how to prepare for this besides the usual interview questions. I really want this and anyone's feedback is very much appreciated!!! Thanks
  6. That seems very strange the application was up from April 11-13 and my understanding after speaking with hr was that apps are only up 3 days, then they conduct about 1 to 3 interviews per candidate. I would've assumed it was staring next month the earliest since some people I'm sure would have to give notice I their jobs and also most hosp require background checks which always takes time.
  7. From my understanding, a couple times per year without warning.
  8. Close the books No it hasn't, applications are only posted for 3days. Have u been called for an interview? I'm dying over here!
  9. Anyone out there applied to this???? Has anyone been contacted for an interview?
  10. Did anyone apply to the CTICU nursing fellowship over this past weekend??? Has anyone heard back yet! I'm sooo nervous and I want in really bad!
  11. I graduated in May 2011, passed my boards in June and was hired at an Ambulatory Surgi Center by August, all because of a craigslist posting. My best advice is to continue sending applications like a mad person. There will be days where you feel lied to by your school, like you'll never get a job but just stay hopefull. I just landed my first interview with a hosp, and ive sent what feels like hundreds of applications to all the surrounding hosps. Just stay strong, positive, dont sell yourself short, your time will come. Hope this helps.
  12. Hey Jenne223, I am actually in the program since Sept of last year. I attend the main campus in Lodi, not sure how the programs work at the hosp facilities, I'm sure the core curriculum is the same. I LOVE the program, since your at school only one day a week it allows you to have time for work, family and your school assignments. The program is fast pace, so you need to be prepared for the work ahead of you and the many papers you will be writing. I would definitely recommend this program to everyone. Hope this helps! Good Luck...
