Fort Hays State University Virtual
Hi, I just got accepted to their virtual college. I'm excited but just want to know from anyone who is currently there: How are the courses? Is Blackboard easy to navigate? Are the professors helpful? How easy is it to be admitted to the RN-BSN program once the required pre-reqs are completed? Feel free to offer any other info that you think will be helpful. Thank you!

Walgreens Home Infusion
Hi, I wanted to know more about the f/t position... Like rate of pay (or range is fine), if the benefits are good, do they offer tuition reimbursement (how soon/how much) and do their full timers get provided with cars and gas cards and ezpass. I know that full timers get the last 3 items with a company I work per-diem for....

That is awesome as I have put in about 200 apps to the St. Barnabus system as a whole w/o a response. I wish you success in your new position.

Newark Beth Israel Hospital
Hi I am looking for work in the hospitals. I am currently doing pediatric homecare. I had an interview w/one correctional facility, but did not get it. That was last year sometime. I had a phone interview with to work as an instructor for an LPN to RN program. But I really would like to get acute care experience. Thanks, Jen

Newark Beth Israel Hospital
Hi Rosie, I am a (new) grad. I graduated in May 2010 also and have not found a position in a hospital. I applied relentlessly to St. Barnabus system but you know...nothing. Anyway, I work for pediatric homecare agency and also another agency doing assessments for their new incoming clients. I just had a phone interview for a LPN - RN school. Would you mind giving me any info on the one you are working at? Thanks, Jen

Night Shifters: Do you sleep?
I work as a tech on a neuro floor and I usually take a nap on my break time. Our nurses though don't really sleep at all during the night. Most of the techs don't take naps because they can't get up, but I can sleep anywhere & feel so run down if I don't get a nap. Where we are we do 12 hour shifts, so our nurses don't mind what we do during our break time as long as it is off the floor (in the break room, lounge etc.) Our nursing supervisors also know we sleep, but in the non-patient areas. Night shift is hard work & most of us don't get proper rest during the day because we are in school or with our children etc., so to me if you are able to get some sleep in & you can do so with your patients covered on your break time, who really should judge?

Hospitals in NJ that pay for school?
Hi, I know AHS has a program, but I know that it starts in the 2nd year of whatever course you are taking, so I'm not sure how that will work with an accelerated program. here's the link: http://www.atlantichealth.org/site/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=44b2c90fba9db010VgnVCM100000edca460aRCRD&vgnextchannel=38b0c90fba9db010VgnVCM100000edca460aRCRD I hope this is helpful. Who has kids?
Hi, I start Nursing school in the fall, and I have 3 kids (6, 4, & 2). I am on a mission to finish school now, so I will go full time. I am 28, and I have the support of my aunt & my sister (I am separated right now from my husband), so I feel that this is necessary to get my RN asap so that I can support myself & family. Right now I work the night/weekend shift at a hospital as a Patient Care Technician so that is 12hours on Fri, Sat & Sun . I still work part time during the week at a different hospital. Once school starts I will only work the night/weekend job. I have had my children in & out of daycare/babysitters throughout and they are well adjusted, happy babies. My youngest also still breastfeeds and we do this at bedtime mostly. Everyone is right about your children needing this time with you, but I also feel that in my specific situation, we all will be better off if I had my RN sooner rather than later, so my mission is to finish as soon as I can. You have to decide for yourself if you can adjust yourself to giving your children what they need, your husband what he needs & also doing for you. But, if you feel guilty about having the children go to daycare, maybe you should stay parttime in your studies. JenneB.
