Monitoring and had a pETh test 5.5 days ago

I drank 2 shots (mini bottles) Friday and took a pETH test the following Thursday. I had not drank before. I didn't know or think about a pETh test. Huge mistake. It's been 3 days and no result yet. Any chance of passing? I know I risked a lot I just didn't think about it showing up for as long a pETh monitors. Thanks

Hi, I am so sorry to hear that you failed the PEth test. But lesson learned right? I had a similar situation happen to me. Please don't beat yourself up. You will get through this. How are you managing finances without working? I'm just curious. Because there are days when I just want to give up completely on nursing bc of being in monitoring but I can't find another career with similar pay and I'm 41 so starting over in a whole new career that thought scares me. Since I have been monitoring I am constantly stressed out. My total cost for the program itself and the mandatory meeting they make me attend once a week is $350 and that's without the drug testing costs. When I did have a positive Peth test back in May I had restart my program and my narc restriction for 6 months restarted and I also was told I can't work until I had a re-evaluation done which was another $1000. I was finally allowed to go back to work in July. I am grateful for my job. I am grateful that I am now 💯 sober. But I hate the monitoring program and how they make you feel. There is no compassion and we as nurses are certainly treated like we are subhuman. A normal person could get all the help but not feel like they are being punished. But I'm sorry to say the monitoring Program is a punishment regardless if you voluntarily commited yourself to the program or you were required to commit to the program. We are all treated the same...subhuman...like there is something wrong with us.

You drank 2 standard drinks (2 mini-bottles, probably 50ml each) and you HAD NOT drank for 4 weeks before that, correct?  And you had a peth test 5.5 days later and it was a 37?   

That doesn't make sense - the peth should NOT be 37 with the above scenario.  Are you sure you didn't drink in the days or weeks before those 2 mini bottles?   Or perhaps you had more than 2 mini bottles that day?

Have you considered going to AA and giving true sobriety a try? Coping by sneaking alcohol is no way to live. In NJ at only 3 months in you would not be extended but you would need to repeat 90 meetings in 90 days before they would ever consider you being able to go back to work

hello,

I drank 2 regular 8% beers and 1 5% beer 2 weeks back and also drink 3 24oz beers a week ago. Before that total abstinent for one month. I am giving peth test now after a week of my last drink. I am worried that I will fail the test. Although I finished the drinks very slowly over 5 hours and have a weight of 270 lbs with BMI 34. So my BAC might not exceed 0.05. Any comments? thank you

I don't know but sounds a bit risky. If you can reschedule your test that would be best.

I drank a lot of water and dropped it today. Is there a way to reschedule? I think you have to show up once selected otherwise it is considered as failed test.

You dropped what today?  Usually no you can't reschedule. I hope you pass my friend. From past experience I drank 6 beers on 04/12 and got tested 4/24 exactly 12 days later. I did not pass my Peth was 24. I had to stop working and needed a revaluation. Basically I wasn't allowed to practice until cleared by the evaluator and my state program advocated for me to return to work. I had to be off of work for 7 weeks. It sucked. I haven't touched or try the system again. It's not worth it what so ever

I dropped off blood for Peth test today and I am worried too. I didn't know that I can reschedule it as I have never done it before and don't know what to say to reschedule it. MY all tests for the last one year is negative. I am in this program primarily because once hair test caught marijuana and I am stuck in this ***. I am currently not working and going to start work from November. The only problem is I applied for the state license as recently moved to this state but prior state is still monitoring and current state has a reciprocal agreement with me and supporting me to get this state license. I am worried this license will not get screwed. Can I ask what is your weight and you finished 6 beers in how much time?
