I drank 2 shots (mini bottles) Friday and took a pETH test the following Thursday. I had not drank before. I didn't know or think about a pETh test. Huge mistake. It's been 3 days and no result yet. Any chance of passing? I know I risked a lot I just didn't think about it showing up for as long a pETh monitors. Thanks
You know the rules and you knew you were not supposed to touch alcohol and you said you were in for opiates. Go to the 3 recovery meetings per week and actually LISTEN while there. You are playing with fire when you are only 6 months into the program and you are using alcohol when you have an SUD for opiates. It suggests your SUD is still a major problem and when SUDs remain a serious problem, your life is at risk because your behavior suggests relapse and relapse is concerning.
Stop trying to "plan' to "scheme" or "figure out" how to "beat the system or not get caught" and wait for it....wait for it.....stop touching substances, period. No alcohol or drugs which will save your health and save your life. You CAN do this. You will be OK. They will likely extend your monitoring. You realize 2 mini bottles of liquor EASILY shows up in a hair test also? Hair tests date back 3 months. So, it's not just the Peth, a hair test can get you also. It's not worth taking the risk. Keep your chin up. You will be OK and relapse isn't a show stopper, but it's critical for you to actually GO TO the 3 weekly recovery meetings and apply the content and when you do, you will be happier. Hang in there.

First, you called your behavior out forward it was and that's doing the right thing. You are owning it which means the chances of you doing this again decrease. Some foolish people who have no clue about recovery science and data would tell you to "not label yourself," LOL, whatever the heck that means.
As for you telling the truth or lying to the Board about ehat hapoened? Tell the truth! Remember, you have an SUD and what goes with SUD as being part of the problem that got anyone here with an SUD? Dishonesty. FIX that behavior. Tell the truth. Go by what recovery data, DATA, tells us about honesty relating to not relapsing and turning our lives around.

You not only did the right thing by being truthful, you Owned it and things like ownership/truthfulness are literally correlated with decreasing chances of relapse and telling the truth not only helped you with this event, but it will serve you well 5 years from now. If you would have not been truthful, your time would have increased by 1 year or more. Most nurses don't understand they can tell the difference with more advanced testing in alcohol sanitizer for hands which is usually isopropyl alcohol compares to ethyl alcohol which is ingested. The lab can EASILY tell the difference because their byproducts are different. It's alarming how uninformed many nurses are regarding the above and same for mouth wash which is generally ethyl alcohol like we drink, but there is no way you are getting a Peth of 20 or more (positive) unless you are drinking mouthwash like we do regular alcohol.
You did the right thing
