Ramp nurse recovery program nj
Personally, 5 years of your life is a long time. Likely just bc you have something on your record they are wanting you to get an evaluation. An evaluation does not necessarily mean you will have to do the program but knowing what I know now I would consult a lawyer prior to agreeing to anything. I would agree with Healer though. Don't lie about anything. If you have a prescription for a drug they can't say you have a drug issue. I left you my number in earlier post

To be honest from past experience even if incidental exposure is reported there are consequences. I just really really hope you have a negative result and moving forward don't make this mistake again. The system is set up to catch any mess ups so it's best to do your time without anything in your system.

Does probation always mean nurse license suspension?
If you are so concerned about this nurse why do you not reach out to the nurse personally and ask how she is doing? People make mistakes especially when they are in a dark spot and very low but it does not mean that the nurse/person first is in that spot anymore. Also because this person wanted to harm herself does not automatically mean she wants to harm other people.

Is it even worth it?
Honestly my friend I would commit yourself to the program bc it's clear you do have a problem with pain medication. The program sucks I know but honestly it keeps you accountable and assists in sobriety. Atleast for me I got a dui for alcohol for the longest time ignored the damage I was doing while under the influence of alcohol even though I did not drink daily and never on the job or even the night before I had to work. But the program helps. Yes it's a pain but honestly for me if I wasn't in the program most likely I would be drinking again and I'm so proud of myself that I am not and am finding other ways besides substance to cope with daily and life stresses

You dropped what today? Usually no you can't reschedule. I hope you pass my friend. From past experience I drank 6 beers on 04/12 and got tested 4/24 exactly 12 days later. I did not pass my Peth was 24. I had to stop working and needed a revaluation. Basically I wasn't allowed to practice until cleared by the evaluator and my state program advocated for me to return to work. I had to be off of work for 7 weeks. It sucked. I haven't touched or try the system again. It's not worth it what so ever

Ramp nurse recovery program nj
I wish I had talked to lawyer before signing up with PHNP which is the PA program. Likely would have only had to pay my lawyer to represent me versus signing my life away for 5 years to the program. At that time I didn't know I had a choice because the letter and forms you get make it sound like you don't but you do. All I am saying is just a consult with a lawyer experienced that is experienced in working with the Board will not hurt otherwise be prepared to do all of the above that is mentioned in the previous post

to be honest if you have not signed anything with RAMP yet don't do it. get council from a lawyer first. if you can avoid a monitoring program you should avoid it at all cost. Believe me getting lawyer involved now will be cheaper in how much you end up paying these guys. Unless you truly feel you need the help or are struggling with a SUD avoid avoid avoid. Do not sign anything and do not agree to an evaluation until you speak to a lawyer and they advise you to do that.

Be careful in monitoring with urine and blood tests like peth!
It took me a while to read through all the responses. I must say that I found that ppl on here that don't have SUD are more compassionate to your friends situation that those of us who do which is quite a shame. I have a problem with alcohol. I never drank during work or actually even the day before work but when I did drink I just took it to the next level. My point is that I have to take it one day at a time and can never and will never say I'm going to stay sober for the rest of my life. It's one day at a time. Because that is true recovery and guess what slip ups happen. If I was not a nurse and relapsed I would just have to attend more AA meetings or for my own recovery choose what type of recovery program I wanted to go into but because I'm a nurse and I relapsed I would be punished! And some people on here think that punishment will lead to staying sober?? I disagree with those ppl. I disagree with those people who say your friend should have her license suspended. We are all humans first and nurses second. But the powers at be and some ppl on this thread think differently which is a same. I take my recovery seriously but the monitoring program I hate it. Bc it does not help me in my recovery only adds to my stress and makes me feel down and worthless. As nurses we are tought to "individualize treatment plans" according to a patients need. So just like all patient situations are different....all of us in monitoring have different situations and based on those situations monitoring should be individualized not standardized! For instance how is it beneficial to put a "can't administer narcotics to a patient" for 6 months when the nurse doesn't have a issue with narcotics? Please tell me what the heck is the justification for that? I would understand this restriction on a nurse who had a narcotic abuse disorder but why is this in place for everyone? It makes no sense!

Vacationing while in monitoring
Hi I am going on a trip to Hawaii in October. I was told I may have to get tested there. I'm going to an all inclusive resort and I will not have a car to go to center to get drug tested. My case manager told me to take proof kits along I asked her will there be a fed ex place to drop them off to? She said there should be. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Has anyone been on vacation and was selected to drug test while on vacation? Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated

Hi, I am so sorry to hear that you failed the PEth test. But lesson learned right? I had a similar situation happen to me. Please don't beat yourself up. You will get through this. How are you managing finances without working? I'm just curious. Because there are days when I just want to give up completely on nursing bc of being in monitoring but I can't find another career with similar pay and I'm 41 so starting over in a whole new career that thought scares me. Since I have been monitoring I am constantly stressed out. My total cost for the program itself and the mandatory meeting they make me attend once a week is $350 and that's without the drug testing costs. When I did have a positive Peth test back in May I had restart my program and my narc restriction for 6 months restarted and I also was told I can't work until I had a re-evaluation done which was another $1000. I was finally allowed to go back to work in July. I am grateful for my job. I am grateful that I am now ? sober. But I hate the monitoring program and how they make you feel. There is no compassion and we as nurses are certainly treated like we are subhuman. A normal person could get all the help but not feel like they are being punished. But I'm sorry to say the monitoring Program is a punishment regardless if you voluntarily commited yourself to the program or you were required to commit to the program. We are all treated the same...subhuman...like there is something wrong with us.
