Dianah J and I  used to be regulars at Claim Jumper

Tweety on Friday I went bird watching and went to the Art Institute, was sore from all the walking

NJ22 hope the smoke clears up

Ado that's too bad the sitter didn't get along with the dog

Stars that is good that  you're able to let go and focus on those things you can do

Went to church yesterday and coffee thereafter.  Came home and got the crock pot  recipe started, did dishes,  and went on a bike ride since it it was nice and in the 70s.  A nice and fairly quiet day

Today should be an ordinary day, nothing unusual as long as work goes well

Going to be about 80 today, so a little warmer but still nice

Good morning!

There is a lot of information about nutrition to sift through.  People are vehement about their beliefs.  Examples would be the nightshade and gluten thing, don't eat carbs, eat a high saturated fat diet (put butter in your coffee), etc.  There's a movement in the plant based world that all oil should be eliminated because it causes inflammation in the vessels.  So does exercise actually and there's some good evidence about olive oil.  Anyway, I try to sift through the evidence and not listen to some social media influencer and make decisions.

I will say those that are needing to loose weight, and have disease like diabetes or heart problems probably need to eat a little more carefully than me.  Other than mental illness I'm pretty okay.  LOL

Opps...sounding preachy again.

Off today.  Need to houseclean and go to the gym.  Yesterday because I mowed in the heat I skipped the gym.

The storm is still too close for comfort but looks like it's going a tad higher up the coast than here.  But anything can happen.

Have a great day.

Nutrition is a difficult subject.

I manage my inflammation by limiting sugar and processed grains. The decrease in sugar made a noticeable and measurable improvement in a couple of symptoms I was having. This resulted in my losing some weight, which is not really the objective.  Like Tweety, my chronic illnesses are likely more mental than physical.

It is in the 50s and 60s here and off and on rainy.  Definitely autumn.  It needs to stop raining so that I can mow the "lawn" one more time before it freezes. It gets dark now, so I have limited hours to get that done.

Spending time with my 7 year old grandson is helping me with the loneliness while my spouse is away. He has so much energy!

I have avoided sugar, especially high fructose corn syrup, for years, as well as processed grains. I do enjoy a slice of multi-grain toast for breakfast, and occasionally high protein pasta. I am moving away from meat.

A lot of nutritional research is non-conclusive, and you have to adapt to one's personal tolerances. I for one, am able to tolerate dairy, but my gut rebels to most cruciferous vegetables, like cabbage.

High of 84, 'feels like' 94, humidity 77%, and chances of rain, depending on where you look, are between 65% and 72%. It is sunny/cloudy.

Nannie is up, has had her yogurt and meds. Hubby came in from his Ford 'office' and has made himself some ham-salad for his lunch, (yes, nice and salty!) I am having coffee and trying to wake up.

I told hubby that if he was going to the ABC store, he better go when he gets through eating, because I have to go get things we have already run out of. But it looks like I'll be going to the store first, as he has finished his lunch and settle in to his recliner. Whoop-dee-doo.

All for the moment~

Hello all!

I appreciate all the nutrition comments about what works for each of you, and your experiences.

We had a good time yesterday at the Gospel Sing, and then enjoyed visiting at the Greek restaurant (great food).   Here's a photo sent to us by one of the attendees:

And here's one of dh playing bass at the festival:

Dh finally found a product that WORKS, to back-up our computers before sending them out to get the battery replaced.  He had tried three other products, which did NOT work, for whatever reason.  This one was easy to use, performed quickly, and the files are easily restored.  Their tech support was responsive to his questions, too.  He is SO relieved (as am I).

Today I have a few errands to run.

Have a good day!  (stay safe, Tweety)

Those are some awesome pictures Dianah.  The one of your husband has perfect lighting and his concentration is there, it should be in a picture book.

My gut can pretty much handle anything considering I've eaten bugs and fried frogs in Cambodia.

The 11 AM advisory (they come out every six hours) on the hurricane seemed to still show us in the safer zone, although storm surge is a concern.  Work has decided to wait and see but are reaching out to the Team A folks to affirm their commitment.  Again, I'm on Team B the relief team.  The airport closes at midnight tonight and schools are closed starting tomorrow.

Here we go again.

I did my errands (what a good girl!) and now I am waiting for hubby to wake up (or should I wake him up?) so he can go to the ABC store. He was kind of ticked off when I said I was going to the Food Lion I usually go to....and it is not the one by the ABC store. Though he says one Food Lion store is the same as any other, but it's not so. And anyway, I am not going to get his vodka. Guess I better wake him up....(oh joy!)

Stay safe, Tweety.

Joe, that does sound like nicer temps, than you've been having.

I fulfilled the last of my 10 volunteer hours at the plant clinic this morning. The person I worked with had the best overall (in my opinion) approach to answering diagnostic questions about plants. The clinic seems to get a lot of questions that might be better directed to other places, like pest control (vermin), but we are free, so I can't really blame people.

Tonight I am helping dd with a trivia night fund raiser. I am going to help with score keeping. Last week I helped with drafting questions.

Dianah, those are cool pictures.

Stars, good job on being firm about buying booze.

Annie, that would be a shame to lose your Gma sitter. I don't understand being afraid of cats. I'm not a cat person, per se, but I think they're OK and not threatening.

Weather is cool, overcast and smoky. Some light rain is predicted this afternoon. Yes, please.

I have known one other person who was afraid of cats.  I can't understand it either, but it's not up to me to understand it.  I do hope you don't lose your Gma-sitter, Ado!

No Stars, I did my errands too!  I found out something new, too!  The computer screen in our car automatically shows the road we're on, and our progress on it.  Our gas tank was low (one of my errands was to get gas in the car), and I noticed (for once!) that the icons of nearby gas stations show up on the route on the computer!  BUT, only when we have been properly alerted that our gas tank is low.  Just an interesting detail...

It was 103 degrees out, humidity 17%.  I do appreciate air conditioning!

Have a good evening!

Definitely am thankful for a/c.

Today has been beautiful -- maybe 85 and not humid. Wish it would stay that way for a bit. But we're expected to be back up to 100 for the weekend.

I guess the sitter told Hubs today that she would just have to stay away from Dory when she comes over. Dory herself is looking very non-threatening at the moment:

Diets: tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers are staples of my diet. I haven't found any way of preparing eggplant that I particularly like so I wouldn't miss that. I eat far too much sugar and refined wheat flour but don't know how to keep myself productive otherwise.
