just wondering if there are any moms going back to school. i have babies still. one 2 year old and one 10 month old. children make it difficult. they attend daycare while i go to shcool but at night while i need to study it gets difficult. this past summer i was cracking books open at 11 pm. ahh! and the classes weren't even that difficult. the good thing is i will be taking my kids one day to daycare on a day where i do not attend school just for a study day. thank goodness i have a wonderful husband who supports me. the problem is that he works 50-60 hours/week. well, he is now that i am not working, so he spends more time in the office trying to recoup our losses.
so, i was wondering if any of you are in the same boat. maybe we could give each other some ideas on how to get some extra studying done.
-i must say, the break is nice. i don't feel like there is a coffee bean in the pit of my tummy. haha.
I have 4 kids. 7, 5, 3 and 15 months. I am working towards my ADN. Man is it hard with the kids!!! This semester I have Biology, Medical terminology and Nutrition. I am probably going to drop the nutrition until later as I doubt I can do 3 classes well. Two will probably be hard enough.Like you, I am a SAHM and my DH works 60+ hrs a week. So my time is limited. Hopefully with the two older ones in school I will manage. What do you think, 2 or 3 classes???

WOW, i must commend you for going back to school and raising 4 kids!!! that is so amazing!!! I am also a stay at home mom and I will be taking just two classes probably this fall because if i take 3 it would be way too much right now!!! I have two boys and we only have one car and my husband works 40 to 50 hours a week!!! that makes it a little harder to get to school but I am going start and finish all my pre-reques hopeful by next fall semester!!!
I have two boys, 3 and 1. I plan on taking all pre reqs that I can online thru my community college so I'll only have to go onto campus for ap classes. If i get accepted into the nursing program, it won't be for 2 years and my oldest will be in kindergarten. So hopefully everything will run smoothly. Oh and I'm buying a laptop so I can do some work while at work.
I have two wonderful little girls ages 7 and 2. I am currently in my second semester of pre-requisites and my biggest challenge has been getting use to being away from my babies. A far as the studying goes - I study every moment I get the chance. Unforuntately that is usually late at night when I would much rather be spending the much need time with my husband who has been wonderfully supportive during this transition. Flash cards have become my new best friend - they are small enough to throw in your purse and you can pull them out when you get a few minutes. I have even pulled them out red lights, that's 2 or 3 minutes of study time right there. It all counts right.

2 classes don't stress yourself out
Good morning everyone,
I am a mom of 3 kids, 6,8,12. I am currently doing pre-reqs. When I first started i was going during the day while the kids were in school. However, i found it was REALLY HARD to study when they were home. After that semester until now, I take classes in the evenings. It is so much better. I have all day to study while the kids are at school. I take as many on-line classes as possible and take the harder ones at night. My husband is home from work early enough for me to go to school. When i start my nursing school clinicals that will be a differnt story i am sure.
If you can find someone to watch you kids (like their dad) in the evenings, try it, you will see a BIG difference.
Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phillies-good 'ole hubs does help quite a bit. Problem is is works late most of the time...he's a finance manager at a Honda dealership so commission is how we pay the bills and what hours he works is key. When he is home, he is a HUGE help. Hubs work schedule is a major down fall to my education. But, we will get by. Once clinicals start, I am planning on hiring a nanny for my home.
