  1. Thanks for your reply. My CC doesn't require any kind of test prior to getting into the nursing program. I don't know if that is good or bad. :uhoh3:However, they do go by a point system. The better the grades the higher the points. Good luck to you as well.
  2. Thank you to everyone who posted info to help me. I really appreciate it:lol2: I will use them!! Have a great day.
  3. Hi everyone: I just started my A&P 1 class. THe instructor said if you can't pass this class we won't survive nursing school. I am looking for ways to absorb all of the class info. For other classes, reading and reading just doesn't work for me. I have a problem getting high scores. I am a visual person but not all of the text has pictures (especially the begining of the textbook). If you don't mind, please share what works for you. I want an A do despartely. Thanks so much.
  4. Hi there: How often does your CC accept students into the program? My school accepts new petitions every semester (3 times a year). They fill the seats and then select 3 to 5 students for the waitlist. So there really isn't a waitlist per-say. Everyone who doesn't get selected must re-petition each semester. Good luck
  5. Hi everyone, I have made up my mind and i will be attending nursing school; however, I am not sure if i should invest my time and go to school for my LPN and get it done in one year or continue at the cc and go for my RN which will take 3 years. Do LPN's make a lot less money than RN's and are LPN's fading away? Is it harder to get a job? I am 38 years old and I know if whatever I choose, once i finish school I will not go back. If anyone can give me some advice i would greatly appreciate it!!! Have a great night.
  6. Hi allantiques4me; I am not quite sure what kind of nursing you do. I'm glad to hear that you love it! Can you tell us more. Thanks.
  7. Hi everyone; Did anyone ever use the Human Anatomy coloring book? Which one did you use? Did it help with your studying. Thanks so much!
  8. Good evening to all; I would love to hear from those of you who do not work in a hospital. Why did you choose to work in the area you are working? Have a great night!
  9. It's nice to meet you. I live in the burbs of Philly. Do you like being a nurse? Was it hard to find a job once you graduated? I am doing my pre-reqs at Montgomery County Community College. Good luck with your future.
  10. Hi there; I live five minutes fro the school, but decided for the lenght of time the program is and all of the pre-reqs they require, i will be attending the program at Montgomery Community College for my ADN. That will put me closer to a BSN if I wanted to go further with my education. Good luck.
  11. Hi; I would like to know if anyone is from the Philadelphia area. They have some of the best hospitals in the country. Are you a nurse yet or are you still in school? I hope to hear from you. have a great night.
  12. Good evening; Does anyone know what the hospitals are doing to fix the problem of nursing shortages? I am amazed at the fact there can be 12 patients for one person to take care of! When are hopitals going to wake up and realize without nurses hospitals will not survive (or patients). One more question; why do doctors get paid so much more when they spend so little time with their patients? Have a great night!
  13. Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you.:monkeydance: I have read so many horror stories about being a nurse. It makes me wonder why the nurseing schools in many areas are jammed packed with students wanting to enter them. It is hard to believe there is a shotage. Also, when in school and doing your clinicals, don't you see the stressed out nurses? I can't believe I am still considering nursing school after reading horrible threads about being a hospital nurse. Do I think it wouldn't happen to me? Oh God, what am I doing? Have a great day.
  14. Good morning everyone, I am a mom of 3 kids, 6,8,12. I am currently doing pre-reqs. When I first started i was going during the day while the kids were in school. However, i found it was REALLY HARD to study when they were home. After that semester until now, I take classes in the evenings. It is so much better. I have all day to study while the kids are at school. I take as many on-line classes as possible and take the harder ones at night. My husband is home from work early enough for me to go to school. When i start my nursing school clinicals that will be a differnt story i am sure. If you can find someone to watch you kids (like their dad) in the evenings, try it, you will see a BIG difference. Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Wow!!! Thank you so much for the quick responses. Dixielee, your post gave me goose bumps and brought a tear to my eye, thank you. 1NAmyllion; you are right. Finding my own niche will be the key I'm sure. I would love maternity or a unit that is child related as I am a mother of 3. Thanks again to all of the posts. I look forward to reading more and hopefully I will not regret getting into the field that I so admire. Best wishes.
