Hello, this is my first post here, and I love all of the great info that I am reading on this site! I graduated from high school in 08, and have been going to school off and on since then, I have all of my prerequisites completed. I applied for a nursing program to Norfolk State University in Virginia last year, and was accepted, but in between putting in the application and receiving my acceptance letter, I found out I was pregnant, and of course my due date was the date that orientation started haha. Anyways, I couldn't go through the program, and now I'm a Mommy to a 9 month old (who I've been staying at home with since birth) and am finally applying to a nursing program again. I'm so ready to be done with school and be a RN, but I'm very nervous about how much time that nursing school will consume. I'm ready to make the sacrifice now so that I can provide my daughter with a much better future, but it's just sad that I'm going to be away from her a lot after being with her 24/7. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance/advice from any other Mommy's who went through nursing school.

I'm a mom to 4 kiddos, after my first semester I apologized to my kids for missing out on some of their activities and not always being there... Mommy Guilt! You know how they replied - by asking me what I was apologizing for! And just recently my youngest brought home a journal entry from school talking about how cool it is her mom is in nursing school, and how she wants to be just like me when she grows up.
The point I am trying to make, kids get it, even young kids. Sure it will be hard, sure you will be missed occasionally, and you will definitely miss your little one. But the end result will be worth it, and especially with your child being as young as they are, the likelihood of them ever saying you missed out and they are mad about the reason is not a good one! In fact they are more likely to respond with admiration!

I have not been through nursing school yet but just found out I was accepted into this fall semester. I am married and have three kids! I was originally a pharm tech but quit to stay home with my oldest (4) when she was born. I am also nervous ab the time between school and studying. I want to be there 100% for my children but I know that I will be providing them with so much more once school is behind me. I have friends who went through nursing with children and I never heard them complain. Good luck to you, momma!! We can do this(:

I too foun out I was pregnant when I got my acceptance letter and my due date was in the middle of the semester so I withdrew my acceptance. I then reapplied and got in again found out I was pregnant with baby #2 half way they my first semester and during my second semester I had to withdraw from my classes just three weeks before finals due to complications with pregnancy. Had the baby two weeks later. Decided to take time off from school thank goodness because I became pregnant AGAIN! I had my third baby back in December. So now my children are 3 1/2, 18 months, and 5 months. I start back to school at a different school since I didn't like the other program I was in. I elected to take my fundamentals over because if you don't use it you lose it! I'm determined to finish, this is my calling in life besides being a wonderful mom to three amazing boys! Us moms can do anything we set our minds to and be great moms at the same time!
