Hey all,
While looking at information for the Modesto Junior College RN program I came across an awesome thread on here for the 2018 application period. It was great to read through and see how much they motivated each other. It gives us an opportunity to stress together and bond while waiting to see if we get in. I am hoping to make a successful thread for those of us ready to apply in May.
Best of luck to all

That is awesome! You will most likely get accepted to both! Which one is your first choice?

Hey, Irene!
My name's Andrew and I'm currently one of the first semester ADN students at MJC. I scored a 95.3% on my TEAS. It's totally possible, just be willing to reeaaally work hard for it (which in all honesty is going to be good practice for when you get in the program because it's going to feel like your taking 3 TEAS's every weak, but you have to get a 76.5% to pass your class). The best advice I can give you is to purchase the paperback study guide from ATI with the two online tests. Study at least one module from the study guide every single day but do not limit yourself to the content that's on the study guide.... and they tell you that in the introduction of the book. Really hone in on the science section, especially anatomy, physiology, and microbiology. And spend a good amount of time on math because you'll be doing more complex medication/IV calculations when you get in the program.
I wish you and all who are applying the very best of luck!!!! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
See you guys in clinical ?

Thanks for the tips!! I feel like I could've done sooo much better on the TEAS if I had followed a better study plan. Congrats on getting in!! Best of luck to you ?

Thank you so much for your great tips! I need to score high on the teas so I will be doing a lot of studying. Best of luck in the nursing program!

Hi Irene,
nkI scored exactly a 90.0 on my TEAS, it was my first and only attempt. I didn't really study for it at all, and I honestly don't think it was that hard compared to some of the exams I took in Physio and the other prerequisites. I would think it would probably be best to take the TEAS towards the end of your semester of Physio as that should be sufficient to do well in the science. The math section way very easy in my opinion, but some people struggle with math. My lowest scores were on the reading and language usage parts. It might help to review simple grammar usage. Overall, if you are good enough to do good in all the prerequisite classes, the TEAS shouldn't be that hard. Of course test anxiety is always a factor. I suppose I didn't fall into that trap because nursing was my second major and my entire education wasn't riding on this one test...
I think it's really awesome that NKL scored a 90% on their TEAS without studying at all!! This person's obviously got some serious brains ? However I think you would be hard-pressed to find another person in MJC's nursing program who wouldn't tell you to take some time and study for the TEAS, not with your best interest in mind anyway. Y'all got this!!

I'm not sure. I talked with one of the nursing professors about a month ago. I told her I was thinking of taking a 6 week EMT course, because I would feel better applying with 80 points as opposed to 77. She told me not to waste my money... so I ended up letting Abrams keep my deposit. I'll honestly be pretty pissed if I don't get it, but I'm already working on my BS in Exercise Science at Stan, so it is what it is; I have other options.

I wouldn’t stress too much. Even if it goes up, I wouldn’t expect it to go up more than 2-3 points. There’s always going to be people that deny their spot or don’t have all their supporting documentation. I think 77 is a great number!!

IreneRN- I did not. I scored an 85. I know someone that got a 90, she used the ATI study guide. I used that and the mometrix book, but didn't study nearly as much as I should have
