I wont give a city but I live/work in the southern 1/2 of the state
I make >$18.00/hr which is excellent for where I live, trust me.
I make additional pay based on certifications I hold, the more national certifications, the more money you make type of deal......
I also get $3.00/hr to work nights.
So I don't do too shabby for where I live in comparision to other jobs I could have in this area.......
I graduated from NS in 2006.
I've been looking into MO and am shocked not only at the pay..but at how little the increase is for experience. I talked to a recruiter today who told me new RN's start at $17.45 and with 1 yr experience in ICU I could expect $17.80. I've been at my current job 10 months. I've already had a .96 raise and will get another one when I hit 1 year. (MN)- unfortunately it's cold and I don't want to be here.

Well, you're not going to leave the cold by moving to MO. The weather here is so unpredictable (one day it's warm & sunny, the next it's cold and windy). What area in MO is the recruiter referring to? The payscale changes by location.
I'm the original poster. I'm pretty sure of the base pay for new grads in the St. Louis area. I am most interested in hearing how much more people earn as they gain more experience. In other words, once I'm in the profession for 5 years or so, what kind of increase from the $18 or so/hour might I expect? Thanks.

South MO, actually I called Springfield and Joplin area.
I know it still gets cold in MO...but not MN cold. We see WEEKS of 40 below zero every january. My husband and kids would be devestated if I left snow completely...but I just can't take the frigid blowing wind and weeks of sub zero weather.
In the St. Louis area, starting pay is about $19/hour. I can't speak to experienced RN salary ranges.
One thing to keep in mind -- your salary in those areas you mention may be less, but so too is the cost of living, housing, etc. I think you'll find it's fairly commensurate for the area you are living.
Well I just graduated and interview with several positions around the KC area. The average pay is $20 base. Truman is 20.50, 3.50 night, 1.00 weekend; KU is 21.50, 5.65 night, 2.00 weekends; HCA's are 19.65, 2.00 evening, 3.00 night, 2.00 weekend. Children's mercy I cant remember but it was 21.?? base. These are all new grad starting rates so I have no idea for nurses with exp.

Sorry for the tacky question, but I'm curious: What is your salary? How many years have you been working as an RN? What MO city do you live in? What area do you work in? Thanks!
