Missouri Salary Poll

Published

Sorry for the tacky question, but I'm curious: What is your salary? How many years have you been working as an RN? What MO city do you live in? What area do you work in? Thanks!

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Can't speak to the nursing salaries in St Louis but hubby just took a job in the burbs and bought a very nice condo for $130,000! Can't beat that and gorgeous neighborhood too. Look at the cost of living and how much your $$$$ buys before you just automatically figure it doesn't add up.

True! Our 3 bedroom condo(that we bought 15 years ago for $60,000 in the CWE)would currently list for $185,000. We live close to many major hospitals(Barnes, Childrens, SLU, St. Mary's)so commuting costs are very little. We live in a great neighborhood, are close to most major attractions(Forest Park, Zoo, Botanical Garden, Science Center, Soulard Market, Downtown etc). I may only start out at $19.00 hour base next year when I graduate, but I can own a large condo where in other areas owning property is prohibitive! Can you tell I just love St. Louis! Never would mind making more, but as things go now it's a pretty good living!

:yeahthat: Couldn't touch some of the property on the west coast that we are still getting here for reasonable prices. Things have gone up considerably, even in the Midewest, but the quality of life and more reasonable costs, make this a pretty good place to live!!

ssm maxes out $33 hour. poor staffing, poor management--you earn your money.

Plus they're in the news today for their "layoffs", supposedly consisting primarily of upper management. Hopefully it's not floor staff as that's not something they can afford to cut for their patients' sakes.

Starting salary for new grads is $21.50 @ KU, $21.49 @ Children's Mercy, $20.25 @ St. Luke's. Night and weekends vary. CMH does offer critical care differential. Hope this helps.

Dumb question from a nursing student: does this mean that it would be +$5.00 for weekend nights?

Not a dumb question at all! Yes that is exactly what that means.

Yes, she makes exactly what she wrote. (no question is dumb, just the ones you don't ask).
