Hi all,
Im new to the site and posted this in the Pediatric forum at first. I am a 3 year Neonatal ICU nurse from Florida relocating to North Carolina. I interviewed at Mission Hospital and was extremely pleased with the unit and think it would be a great place to work. I left the interview concerned that I did not get the position and applied to WakeMed and Duke. I was offered the position at Mission a few days after finding out I had secured interviews at the other hospitals. I absolutely love the Asheville area and have heard wonderful things about their NICU. I have never been to Durham/Raleigh but am of course interested in working at Duke. Does anyone have any opinions on quality of life and work environment for either of these hospitals? I'm not sure I'll even get a position at Duke but don't want to think I missed out by accepting the job at Mission without looking at all of my options. I am a single woman in my late 20s without children. Thank you!!
Since I'm in staffing pool, I'll be on all kinds of floors! I was kind of apprehensive about the job at first but everyone says its a great job. There are people who have been working in that pool 20 to 30 years! So, hopefully, I'll like it too. It's bound to be great learning experience!
Let me know how your job goes as well!
Wow, I'm on my second day of orientation and I am DYING! It's like hell week! SO BORING!
I cannot wait to get this over with! Give you something to look forward to! Heh heh
Maybe all hospitals do this, but the CEO came and spoke to us. He talked about how hard it is to get on at Mission and how they only hire the best of the best. Makes a person feel a little bit proud!
Oh no!! Haha! I start orientation next Monday. Now I'm really excited!
Sandra, I just got your message today. I actually just pulled into town in Asheville so I will be sure to message you as soon as I can answer more of your questions
Crazier: did you ask about relocation allowance? I haven't asked yet
it would be HR. I don't know if they will or not but never hurts to ask..... all they can do is say no. Do you move an entire household? Yourself or amoving company? How much did it cost?
Relocation, sign on, etc sometimes depends on how bad they need someone. And if they know how bad you need them. Did you already have a job? I do, so if they NEED my skills they will have to pay for them

Yep, mine is all day Monday-Friday too. Dreading that! I am also on nights but I think I'm orienting on days, too. GOOD LUCK!
