Forgive me, as I'm assuming you're in a BSN program and I was an ADN-RN student, so I may not fully understand a normal, 4-year bachelors program, (I assume general ed stuff that fills pre-requisite status for nursing classes, as well as clinicals during the junior and senior years?) but...
If you would attempt to take a clinical course at NSULA, would you not also have to have the Pax-RN test before July this year? I imagine it couldn't hurt to try to talk to a dean/director (of which 'school' within your university, I assume would be like 'health sciences' or science in general), the worst they can do is say no, after all.
I'm curious though, as to whom told you about this exam and too late. Not to shift blame, and not knowing the whole story, but does your university not have an outline for the BSN tract? Primarily to know specific gen eds, pre-requisites that are required/recommended etc, as well as the time frame for certain requirements? If somebody dropped the ball, it's sort of on the university and I can't see they wouldn't try to be more accommodating to your predicament, especially if it delays your graduation.
One other thing to consider: Some institutions do not allow you to be enrolled in another educational institution concurrently. When I was completing my accelerated bachelors degree, our group was so small that they canceled our 'cohort' for 6 months. I was going to take statistics at a local community college during the off-time. However I received a letter stating I could not be a student at another university even though they are the ones who put the program on hold. Definitely worth looking into with your primary school first.
Sorry I can't help...
I agree, what is the big deal about graduating in May. I would be more concerned with getting accepted. The Pax-Rn is considered the nursing entrance test? Do you know if you are even accepted into the nursing program? Unless it's different at your school but most programs require you to take the entrance test and apply to the upper division. I wouldn't even be concerned about a graduation date right now.
Not sure how schools are out in your area, but here in Los Angeles it is very difficult to be accepted into another nursing program just for one class. I don't even think any schools around here accept transfer students. I would just suck it up and graduate in May 2018. You missed the deadline so next time just be more careful with deadlines. Nursing school won't be as forgiving if you miss a deadline.

Hi guys!
I am currently attending SUSLA(Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana) and I am just about finished with my pre-reqs. In January 2016 I was supposed to take the nursing school entrance exam(Pax-RN) to enter the fall clinicals but was told too late. Now I have to take the Pax-RN in July and enter the first course in January of 2017. Because of this I won't graduate on time which should have been December 2017 but now will be May 2018. Is there anyway to catch up? Like maybe enter a clinical course at another institution and transfer those credits? Or should I talk to the director of nursing and ask if I can be placed in that one course for the fall so I can be on track?
The other institution would be NSULA(Northwestern State University) that's also in Shreveport and offers equivalent courses that will transfer.
Anyone else been in this situation? If so, what did you do?
