1. I wish I could find the article but it states that most women, if their PCP is a NP, go to FNPs. I can attest to that because I go to a FNP as well. And of course they(Family NPs) are in an abundance.
2. NPs do NP duties and they are not Physicians neither are they PAs. NPs are more than just health care providers; they are mentors, educators, researchers, and administrators. Their involvement in professional organizations and participation in health policy activities at the local, state, national, and international levels helps to advance the role of the NP and ensure that professional standards are maintained.
3. NNPs obtain national certification through the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Currently, all states, with the exceptions of California, Kansas, and Indiana, require national certification for NNPs to care for patients.
4. I was in the same boat until I realized that I am on my OWN journey and others are on theirs. It is 100% fine to go back to school at any age! I decided to drop out of high school at 16 and immediately took the GED at 16 and entered college at 16. My first major was nursing but so many people were in my ears telling me that it wasn't for me , due to me being an anxious introvert which was amplified due to being an overly and unnecessarily emotional teen. Being 16 and sheltered my entire life, I listened and changed my major to Computer Information Systems, and I regret it! Those classes were not for me and I ended up with a horrible GPA so I took a year and a half off too. After watching my cousin, who has the only degree in my family, walk across that stage to receive her MSN(Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) something woke inside of me and I was motivated again! That was this May and I applied for my schools program in August and was accepted(ADN). I will graduate from my program, God willing, December 2018 and I won't finish until I receive those six initials behind my name (DNP. NNP). Its never too late, follow your heart and stay in your lane I promise you will flourish! Good luck!
5. I was stating that for dramatic emphasis of my passion for working with a team of medical professionals to save a baby's life. Why would I go to school for 7+ years to only make 70k? My aunt is a RN and is making that much.
6. no problem! But emergency/dermatology/orthopedic NPs weren't included due to it being a low overall "n".
7. Wow!! You had the full blown experience!! I don't drink or anything like that but hopefully,on the weekends, I can fit in movie time :). Thank you!!!
8. Neonatal nurse Practioners were the highest paid with psych coming in second. Becoming a NNP is my ultimate goal. In junior high I wanted to become a neonatologist but quickly learned that being an MD was not my thing but when I find out about NICU RNs and NNPs I realized how this was a specialty that I was molded for. I could careless if it was 70k, I'd be doing what I love and that's what matters.:).
9. Thank you! I want to make friends with the nursing majors but in terms of working in study groups, I don't think I can. I tried for one or two pre-req classes and I couldn't. I have ADHD and take adderall for it,which only helps with the hyperactive part. I can't study with more than one person. Hopefully I find that one good study buddy that I can get through this program with.
10. Thank you! I am hoping I make some friends like this.
11. Excuse me? Please stay on topic. I only have one account here.
12. Thanks :) ☺️But I'm an introvert with really no friends at all. Especially in the city where my school is. That's why I'm so glad or school has the roommate matching thing. Right now it's an hour commute there and an hour from there and it gets tiring.
13. This is a HUGE thing that I have been thinking about but my university actually does something called "roommate matching" where if anyone who is in your major or close(like allied health) you will be matched with them. Thanks :) ☺️
