MiraCosta Palomar Fall 2017 ADN

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm starting this thread for those of us that applied to MiraCosta and/or Palomar's Fall 2017 ADN cohorts! Please share your stats/points and any insight on either program if you have any :).

I calculated 85/86 pts depending on life credits. I scored 88 on the TEAS 6, 3.6 science, 4.0 gen eds. I'm also an Emt, worked at a hospital, and have an AA degree.

I know MiraCosta only takes 20 and I believe Palomar is 36. I did almost all of my pre-reqs through MCC and I've been told It has been really impacted the last few cycles. 85-89 was the point range for spring 2017 at mcc! I'll be happy to get into either but Im not sure on the major differences between the two programs.

Good luck to everyone, I'll be anxiously waiting the next 4-6 weeks! 😬

I just received my acceptance letter too!! Had around 78 points.

I had 83/84 points @nelsonmeg77

Congrats @Jazzd171! Looking forward to putting faces to usernames at orientation lol

I had 78 points too but didn't get one:(

I'm sorry @nelsonmeg77! No news yet is good news though. If you haven't received a rejection letter they may be waiting to see who accepts or declines their spot. What are your other stats (work experience, life, certs, rec letters, etc.)? If 78 pts is the cutoff for acceptance and multiple people have those points they probably look at multiple factors to determine who gets admitted in what order.

I really hope you get in :)

I have my cna license, have worked plenty of hours to get those points, 4.0 on gen eds and 3.54 for sciences. I got a 89 on teas. I have 1 point for language. And 4 points in the other category. I am a military wife and I thought they told me before that if I'm tied with someone that the military spouse gets priority but apparently that didn't happen or my points weren't enough.

I calculated 79 points and haven't heard, either! I was accepted to Grossmont, but was waiting to hear from Palomar.

I have my associates degree and medical asst points, 3.33 gpa in science (2 b's and an a) all A's and 1 B in fixed set gpa, should have all 5 bonus points and I'm also military spouse. The only thing I didn't have was the 5 extra points for recent work/ volunteer experience.

I emailed Mrs. Rodriques and she said she sent out all acceptance letters today. They have until Monday to accept and they the rest of whatever room is left will be sent out next week along with rejection letters

Wow. Thank you!

Your stats are really great @nelsonmeg77! I also thought military was given priority. Sending out positive vibes that you'll get that acceptance letter, you deserve it!

Congratulations to everyone that got accepted. I believe I had between 85 to 91 points. @nelsonmeg77 and @ Misti619, I'm crossing my fingers for you guys. @Larocquh, have you started checking your immunization records. My titer for Hep B failed, so now I'm scared I might get rejected for that because it's a series of 3 shots and you have to wait a month to several months between shots.

I actually have to get my last Hep B shot this week. I know there is an accelerated vaccine schedule for the shot that travelers do, however you would have to see if Palomar would accept it. I wasn't able to apply to grossmont because they needed all of the vaccines ahead of time and I didn't have all of the boosters for hep b, when I asked them about the accelerated one they said they wouldn't take it. I believe that version takes about 1 month. I have all of the other immunizations/tb tests completed as I had to do them for my EMT cert and work this past year.

The quickest you could do the standard vaccine schedule through the county health department or your doctor would be to get your first shot, the second one 1 month after, and the third 8 weeks after that. I had my second booster in january and was told the soonest I could come back for the third was 8 weeks.

If you started the series now, you should have enough time to get them done before Aug 21st!
