YOU MIGHT BE FROM OHIO IF......
You've had to switch from AC to heat, in the same day.
You end your sentences with unnecessary prepositions, such as:
"Where's my coat at?"
You install security lights on you home and garage, but leave them unlocked.
You think the 4 food groups are, beef, pork, beer and Jell-O salad.
You know what "pop" is.
You have designed you kids Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
Your idea of sexy lingerie is tube socks and a flannel nightgown.
The local newspaper covers headline news in two pages, but uses 6 pages for sports.
You think all pro football teams are supposed to wear orange.
You know Ohio's 4 seasons: Winter, Still Winter, Almost Winter & Construction.
You know what a Buckeye is, and have a recipe for candy ones too.
Your sense of direction, "toward the Lake" is the same as North, and "toward the river" is South.
You can tell if someone is from northern or southern Ohio as soon as they open their mouth.
You can spell words like: olentangy, cuyahoga, tuscarawas and wapakoneta.
"Vacation" to you means Cedar Point if it's summer, and deer hunting in the fall.
You measure distance in minutes.
Your school was closed due to cold.
Your school was closed due to heat.
And finally, you might be from ohio if:
you pronounce it "oh-hi-ya" and not "oh-hi-o"

The whole "Warshington" was out by my generation. My mother had a third grade teacher who made her write 100 times
"There is no "r"in Washington" LMAO, wish I could shake her hand.
I don't think anyone mentioned the funky pronunceation of grocery.
Lets go to the groSHREE store later. Grrr, it drives me nuts.
Is there anywhere else in the country that you can drive literally 5 minutes from the inner city slums and be in REALLY nice neighborhoods? Or for that matter drive 30 minutes and be in the COUNTRY?
Hi,
I was born and raised in Ohio but have live in central California since just after graduating from Akron City Hospital School of Nursing in Dec 1979 (now closed) and I think the hospital is now named something else. I really got a kick out of the post "You might be from Ohio If" It did bring back some memories. If anyone else graduated from Akron City Hospital I'd love to hear from them.:kiss:yelclap: I recently rec. a catalog that my cousin had saved from 1979- 1980. It was very interesting as I was pictured in it! I don't remember it at all! That's what age does to you.
Have A Great Day!

Early on, I mentioned the main "seasons" in Ohio, winter, almost winter, just past winter, construction and football, something like that.
Currently,,,for those not here in the Buckeye State right now, we, at least in SE Ohio, are rather short on rain water.
The other day, we had just enough to settle the dust, so what I have right now, in my front yard is either is growing weeds, or dead (crunchy) grass.
Nothing in between!!!:angryfire
At least I don't have to spend my $3 a gallon gas to cut the weeds, so often.
Welcome to the dog days of summer in Ohio!
Mike
I was born and raised in Ohio. I currentlly live in AZ When I first came here I was working an orhto/neuro floor and said to another nurse "I need to get a warsh cloth" At that point, in time I didnt even realize I pronounced it wrong !! Another manner of saying that has been brought to my attention is when some is "picked up by the cops" I have been asked what does that mean. Does any one else say that too?? I miss Ohio and this has been a wonderful thread thank you all!!

My daughter categorically refused to put the 'student driver' sticker on the car. I didn't push it as one coudn't see it well through the window tinting anyway and my other 4 kids did just fine without before they came out with them. Besides, she drove all of our cars and it certainly would have been silly to keep changing it around.
