Yes, that is true depending what school you decide to go to for RN. The schools I researched that had a LPN to RN bridge program pretty much required that you have your license, and you would be required to take pathophysiology (med-surg) again. Even still, you would graduate within 12-16mo. (depending on which school). Oh, the schools I am referring to would be Chamberlain-16mo., Hocking-12mo., Bohecker-14mo. The other schools I checked out required WAY too many prereq's. I personally decided on Chamberlain because of they offer a BSN program, the days and hours of classes, and convenience of location.

Yes, in the end it is up to you. For me CPS was the best choice because you are in and out in 12mo. Not 12 mo after you finish alot of prereq's first, so its dragged out alot longer. Last time I checked cscc LPN program was part time so it takes about 2 yrs. Is that still true? When I started all these new schools were not up and running, and I figured that extra $5000 would be worth it 'cause why go to school an extra year when I could be working and go back to school to an LPN to RN bridge program.

No, seriously, it REALLY happened! Had a little "in service" about using the word "cow" while in the hallways esp. next to pt. rooms.

COW- computer on wheels for charting, one nurse blurted out "IS THAT COW STILL IN ROOM 204!?" That female patient overheard. And she was obese. Had a heck of a time trying to explain that one! :smackingf

BUT if you do anyway, don't get caught cheating AGAIN, only to have the EXACT same scenario play out! true story If you are ever pulled over by the police, don't think you can just peel away in your car while officer's hand/arm is in your vehicle dragging the officer along-he/she just might feel the need to shoot you in the neck, rendering you paralyzed.

:yeahthat: The 1st drug to *pop* in my head would be DIGOXIN- know when not to give, toxicity levels, "normal" dosage for adult & peds., side effects esp. halos and anorexia. Another NCLEX favorite would be nitroglycerin, insulins(peak times). Just a start! It should "come together" for you once you study it in class and clinicals. We were lucky with awesome med/surg & pharm. instructors who would collaborate together! Hopefully yours will too, happy nursing school boot-camp to ya! :smilecoffeecup:

In my class we had a girl who found out she was pregnant (unplanned)a week before we started the program, she was determined to finish on time so she got her support system in order, 9 months later had the baby over the weekend, and came back to class on Monday! She had major issues to deal with that year, but she did graduate-on time!

VERY SCARY! How is this going to save me time when I will feel the need to back-track that meds were given, and on time, and what about BP, cardiac, and other serious meds beside narcs? I just don't know about this!:uhoh21:

Well, as an LPN here in Columbus OH, we can't even WORK in the hospitals, let alone L&D! That sucks for me, since L&D has always been a dream of mine. That's the main reason Im pursuing my BSN-Oh yeah, here, the hospitals are starting to "prefer" BSN over ASN/ADN, though they still hire ASN, from what I understand from friends/instructors who work L&D, they tend to hire BSN over ASN on that unit. If there's an OH nurse out there who knows otherwise, please let me know! ANY-HOO, sorry obnurse for the rant! I think that's awesome you work L&D! Im curious as to what your duties are, and your limitations.

MaineRN2be @ Maddenkim, thank you for your reply, I live in Columbus OH so I would be on campus, It would not be an on-line program. I wonder if this makes a difference? I don't plan on moving to the above mentioned states, but you never know!
