Hey everyone! I've become interested in applying for MWSU for Fall 2015, but I have yet to see any threads about it so I decided to start one myself! Could anyone help me with their point system?
@tsiondesta2 yeah i would use the davis math review for nurses, i have it as well it just great book and goes over everything need to know for test in great detail. From what I have heard and read admission to the program is only based on how many points you have. The hesi isn't used to determine admission, you just have to score 80% or higher on the math section and have a overall score of 80% on the english section(reading comprehension, grammar, & vocab) for them to consider you application and rank you.
And also who told you they took 100 students? From what I have read on past forums, they only take the top 70 then start a waiting list for the rest of the people and thats been for the last couple years. I emailed catherine in december and she told me this "In the past 5 yrs we have had applicants with 65 points and higher get in on the first try. Last semester the lowest we went to in points was 63.5. The semester before that it was 61.5 pts." I know last fall the cutoff for them was 66, so 69 is competitive you shouldn't have any problems getting in. So dont worry!
@tsiondesta2 i plan on also staying at mustang village, i have heard it is the nicest. With mustang village you can either sign a lease through midwestern or go sign a lease on your own with the apartments. I am not completely sure how much the rent is when you sign the lease wihtout going through housing at midwestern. I know on the actual mustang village website it says a 2bed in $490 and 3bed is $465 and that is per person. I have heard of people saying that they got there monthly rent lower because they had specials going on at the time they signed there lease though. If you go through housing at the school you pay $2400 a semester for a 3bed/3bath. From what other people have said it cheaper to go through housing if your going to stay in a 3bed but if you want a 2bed you have to go through mustage village and sign your own lease.
Once I get my admission packet from the school saying i was admitted to the university I am going to send in my $100 deposit to housing at MSU to hold a room at mustang village because if you wait too long the housing fills up fast especially for mustang village. If you wait until may(which is when i am guessing we will know if we got admitted to the nursing program based on what people have posted in past) housing will be filled up. So i am going to go ahead and pay the deposit because you can always get it refunded back to you if you decided not to go to nursing program or if you find a better deal at another apartment. I rather just be safe than sorry.
Just wanted to let anyone with questions know this semester spring 2015 the nursing program did allow students with 63 points to get in. Of course those individuals were called from the wait list but with patience everything can work out. Now it's not to say that the points will continue around this number because they said the applicants points are coming in higher and higher each semester. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!

@LucyNjoki I know the breakdown is on there website about how they do the points you can go off of that. I would say your best bet is to let catherine rudy add up your points for you. You can send her an email with your unofficial transcripts attached and tell her what classes your taking this semester and she can add them up for you. Because with self calculations there is always a chance for error, I tried to add mine up I only came up with like 58 when I let her do it over email she told me i had 68 so yeah lol. Also whenever you plan on turning in your application you can always physically go to midwestern to turn it in and while your are there she can calculate your points for you if you tell her your are coming and bring a set of your unofficial transcripts with you.
I take my hesi Feb 6, so just under 2 weeks. How was the hesi? Was the english section tough, specifically if you could give some insight to the vocab and grammar sections please? Was the vocab hard or general word and was the grammar more "which word is incorrect" or "choose word to make sentence grammatically correct" type questions?

@lorr19 yeah, i contacted her today she calculated my points and I'm stuck at a 69. its disappointing because i don't think its competitive enough? especially since this semester they are only taking 75 students instead of 100.What do you think is a competitive score for the hesi with someone with my points.
