I am a fairly new school nurse and have spent the last couple years working at a large inner city middle school. It has been challenging, and interesting and I've really enjoyed it but had always planned to eventually move to elementary. I have just accepted a position for next school year at an elementary school that is reeaaallyy close to my house. I'm so excited! But also a bit nervous about working with a new, younger age group. Any advice for making the transition from middle school to elementary? Thanks guys!!
I feel the same! I deal in tough love and that does not always go so well with the littles!
Me too. I told one of my FF middle school kids that was pouting at me for sending them back to class that "I know I'm mean. When I interviewed for this job, I was the meanest, so that's why I got the job."
Said with a smile on my face, of course. ![]()
I wouldn't do any other grade level. I have PK-4th & that's perfect for me. I would rather deal with poop in pants & all that comes along with elementary kids. ![]()
I don't want to deal with pregnancies, periods, fights, & smart mouths.
My best advice is be funny and be yourself, they love it when you can be silly with them, along with the other advice from previous post!! ![]()

Has anyone ever gone from elementary to high school? What were the positives and negatives?
