has anyone attended this program? i take the entrance test in april and i dont know what to expect. is it very hard? is this program any good?

Kendace,

You should be receiving your CNET practice exams in approximately 2 weeks. And also your CNET exam permit shortly after that.

It's a good idea to study for the TABE A in advance because you get less than a week's notice to take that exam. The TABE A exam permit is mailed together with your CNET exam results.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone just joined the site. I took the CNET test on january 23rd, 2010 and was sent a letter to take the TABE on February 9th. I was just wondering if any one who took the Cnet exam already moved on to take the TABE and how was it. Was it difficult?

Hi all,

I'll be taking the CNET exam on the 23rd. Anybody would like to trade CNET reviewer scans ? I have sets E and M. Please let me know. Thanks.

flip_sugbu lets talk. :) :)

Thank you for your quick response. What material should I study to prepare for the Tabe Test A?

Kendace, i would go to barnes and nobles to get a TABE level A book or you can get it from the library. You can also used GED books. I recently took and Passed my TABE test and i found the questions similar to those you find in the GED books. The only thing i would warn you about is the time, practice time management skills cause while the questions are not that that difficult, the amount of time you have to complete each section will. So just practice to answer questions as quick as you can. Good luck.

i ordered my cnet studyguide about 5 weeks ago and received them shortly after...i also have the tabe a math book...do u think i should study both books or one???

i would definitely study both books. assuming that you pass you cnet test, you will have a small amount of time to study for the tabe. i took the cnet on jan. 23rd, i got my results saying that i passed on feb. 2nd and i was sechedule for the tabe on feb. 9th. all of this has been a blurrred to me. thankfully, i was able to pass both test and im in the process of completing paperwork.

my point is you should study for both of them. because it seems that the ppl at the program do not give you alot of time to breathe. good luck.

wow ur doing the paper work already....??? i know last year they started doing the paper work very late last year...i took the cnet and failed in each section by 12 pts..i was more that a little upset because i regstered to take the test and then less than 3 weeks later i got a letter telling me to come in and take the test and was receiving advice from a lot of ppl stating that you need to study this and that and what i ended up doing was studing the tabe a book i received from a friend and it was no help at all..i do agree with a lot of whats being said that its all about timimg and speed especially when it comes to the math....the vocabulary was ok as far as spelling and things of that nature but when it came to the synonms and antonyms it was tough and thats where i messed up big time...any advice on how to get thru those because you have no idea as to what words are gonna be given to you......

i was surprised that i was given a packet with a lot of paperwork to complete so soon. but once i took the tabe test they gave me the packet and told me i have thirty days to submit everything. this is where i am right now, i gathering all the required info so i can submit it and wait to be schedule for an interview.

as far as the vocuabulary questions get a ged or sat book form the library and practice as much of the words as you can. i found that on the cnet test in particular, the vocab questions sometimes do not require you to know the exact meaning of the words; rather it is context in which it is used in the sentences. when faced with questions like those i look for key words in the sentence that could tip me off about what a word might mean.

for example, words such as although, in contrast, however, on other hand etc sugest that you are probaly looking for a vocab term that is opposite in meaning to the context of the entire sentence. so if the context of the sentnce you are reading gave you a negative or positive vibe depending on what is said, then you are probaly looking for a word that means or conveys an opposite tone. also terms used like similiar, the same, as well as, would mean that find a vocab term that conveys the same meaning as the entire sentence.

i did really well on the vocab and reading parts, and half of the time i did not know exactly what the words mean. but iwas able eliminate some answers choices by using the technique i just mentioned above.

it takes practice and thats what worked for me. hope this helps.

thanx NURSEGUY1

I guess its off to the library 2morrow...and now that you mention it a few of my teachers at mid manhattan had told me to study GED books for math especially when it comes to the tabe test...i wonder if they're right! Math is not my best subject.
