  1. Thank you guys here on the forum for posting this valuable hint about the PVT trick. I did the tes on August 11th, and tried the trick when i got home. i got the good pop up. Needless to say i just found out that i pass my NCLEX exam. Yeah me:yeah:
  2. good luck to all those accepted to the lpn program. I just found out today that i passed my nclex exam. In a years time this will be you im so happy yeah me!!!:)
  3. You are allowed to wear regular sneakers with your blue scrubs. When you start clinicals next jan/feb. you will have to buy nursing shoes. They accept only nursing shoes ocne you start clinicals. As far as books go, you get whole host of books usually the first week of schools. If i remember correctly i got about 14 or so books of various sizes. Later on in the semester, you will get another box of review ATI books/DVD. You will get a locker so will have some place to put your books. I cant speak for the other schools, but at brooklyn school, you pretty much will be required to have most on your books at school bc you dont know which ones the teachers will refer to in the beginning. Also, i feel the need to prepare in coming students (idk why?) brace your self for what can be percieved as an abrasive teaching style of some teachers. Stay focus despite this, they mean well in their own way. I have seen too many of my classmates get distracted or engage in pointless arguments with the teachers in which they can never win. By the way, most of those type of students did not make through the program. The best thing to do is to humble yourself, irrespective of whatever background you bring with you to the school. The student that comes with a chip on their student will have a hard time making it through the program. I say all of this not to scare anyone, but several of my friends program were asked to leave bc of percieved 'bad attitude'. Good luck to everyone again. Good luck to everyone who has been accepted to the lpn program!! Next year it will be you guys who will be giving advice to new students. 10 months goes by really fast, so make the most of it!:)
  4. Actually at my school in Brooklyn there was 60 students. Only about 45 graduated bc of various reasons.
  5. Also to those who have not heard about if they got accepted yet. Please be advised that all three schools have been on break since June 24th,2011 until July 6th. Even if you speak to someone on the phone there are actually attending professional meetings and setting up NCLEX prep classes for those of us who just graduated. That what i was told because i have a friend who has applied to this year's program. So just hang in there, you should here something by the end of july.
  6. Hey piink, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you completed the prep program successfully. To everyone that has been accepted, the classes you are seeing on blackboard are subject to change. When i was accepted, the classes that were posted were taken in a different order that how it was supposed to. It usually depends on the intructors that are available to teach the courses. Of course you will complete basic classes like fundamentals, body structure and drug calc. But the other course are liable to change based on the availability the instructors that available to teach the class. aqgain good luck to everyone.
  7. First, the courses i took the first semester were: Body Structure, Human Growth and Development, Fundamentals of Nursing, Vocational Arts , Drug Calculation and Independent study. All the courses involve presentations, and group work. We also did field trip to the Body's Exhibit in Manhattan of which we had to do a major project. School work is fast paced so you need to keep on track so as not to get behind. As it relate to Helene Fuld, you have to have above 85 on every course. I am actually going to an open house at the college this Monday. Yes the course is predominantly women, But as a guy you approach the women as colleagues. And tried not to get involve in the usual 'tiff' or drama that some women in my class seem to be involve in. Stay out off the drama, these ppl are usually the ones that will eventually kick out of the program. Perhaps because these ppl are not focussing not he right things. As I said before I wish everyone the best of luck and If you have any other questions i will try my best to answer them! After I pass the NCLEX I will be applying to Helene FULD becuase I have above 90% in every subject and all you need is a 85% to attend the school. Good luck to everyone
  8. To everyone who have applied and have been accepted to NYC board Ed. LPN program, i wish you the best of luck. This program really is rewardign and challenging program at the same time. I survived yeah! I remember about year or so iwas in the same position as you guys. I was waiting in suspense to see if i would be accepted or not. Now i am a LPN Grad with top Honors.:) For those who have/will be accepted, please develop a consistent study plan because this program is not for the faint of heart. Foster a good working relationship with your classmates that share the same goals. Do not get involve in the politics of whatever issues may going on at the school, you are there for one reason to graduate and pass your NCLEX. It is important that you develop a very consistent study schedule because it is easy to get side -tracted and be left behind. It is fast paced program The teachers are demanding in terms of their expectations, so study! read! study! read! study! read! study! and when you are done, study and read some more lol. The successful student is one that is self-directed and do not just rely on the teachers to pass a course. I will be happy to answer any question you guys may have about he program. I wish you all good luck and best wishes. Now its on to the NCLEX for me!!
  9. I'm in the brooklyn school. Yes drug calcualtions is bit challenging and you just have to practice . There is aseconf test after the cnet exam. Its a tabe test, but they will let you know wehn to take this if you past the cent. good luck.
  10. Actually currently in the program right now, the school hours are mon to fri 8:30am to 3:30pm. Applications should be out about now. good luck to everyone.
  11. I,m enrolled at the Brooklyn site. I already have tons of homework to do
  12. dollw, congrats on passing your NCLEX. I must say that iwas a bit overwhelmed by all the information they gave us today. This was my first day . I just hope i am able to see this program thtrough.
  13. I must say i'm a bit nervous about my first day of class which starts tomorrow. Even though i have been preparing for almost 8 months and I that i was accepted to the program about 3 months ago, I thought my anxiety would be over by now, but its not. I was sent a copy of my class schedule for the first trimester and i have nine classes, let me say it again 9 classes can you believe that!!
  14. Good luck to everyone starting the NYC Board of Education LPN program tomorrow! Lets all get through this!
