Count me in too! I have my first test tomorrow! Good luck everyone! Does anyone else find lab fascinating? We did cultures of the Basement button on an elevator...believe me you don't wanna touch it!

Hello all,

I am in micro now have not been on the board for a while because my internet was down :( Anyway had my first test yesterday wasn't too bad just depends on how picky my teacher is with grading it was mainly short answer. Anyway I love labs. We did a spore stain on our unknown and mine has spores. Wow I was so excited cause that narrows down the possibilities. Really cool class. I'll be checking back again Lisa

i am taking micro this semester, and it is tough. we have a packed house in our class. i just took my second test, which are all right b/c she goes straight from her notes. i just hoping to make through, good luck to you all.

I took my first test on Monday. We have 3 tests and a comprehensive final exam, but he will drop one test. We also take a quiz after every chapter. The quizes are VERY hard, and even though they are open book, they are timed and it is difficult to get a perfect score. I studied VERY hard for the exam, and was expecting it to be a LOT harder than it actually was. Most of the questions were taken directly from the quizes (thank goodness I printed them off and studied them!). So as long as I read the chapters, study a good bit to understand the concepts, and study the quiz questions, I think it will be fairly easy to get an A. [i found out I got an A on the test, BTW!! Yay!!] Anyway, good luck with your tests everyone! Study hard and you'll do fine!

oh! i almost forgot!!! i have the best (and worst!) cheating story ever concerning my microbiology test! be prepared to pick your jaw off of the floor...

earlier this week was our first test. i was sitting in my seat, minding my own business, wrapping up my test-taking and getting ready to get up and turn my test in. as i was checking my answers, i saw this flash out of the corner of my eye. i thought, "that kind of looked like a camera flash....no....it couldn't be!" *flash* *flash* ok, now those are camera flashes!! i look over, and in the row in front of me, 3 seats over, a guy has his test on the floor and is hunched over, taking flash photographs with his digital camera!!!!!!!! can you believe that?!?!? i was appalled! i turned around to my friend sitting behind me and gave him the "what-the-heck" look, and watched the guy as he took a total of maybe 4-5 pictures of the test, front and back. keep in mind that there were students taking tests directly on either side of him! so, after he takes his pictures, he coolly pockets the camera and gets up to turn his test in. i look around to see if anybody cares that this is going on...and it doesn't seem like it. well, i care, and i hustle my stuff together asap to get up and either turn him in to the teacher or confront the guy, when my friend behind me literally jumps out of his seat and runs up to the teacher to tell him that the guy was taking pictures of the test. our teacher is chinese, and my friend had to say it 3-4 times, finally pointing to the guy saying "he took pictures of the test", before the teacher finally grasped what was going on. at that point, the guy was standing directly in front of our teacher, about to try and hand in his test, when the teacher said, "why would you want to take pictures of the test???? why would you do that??? you can't do that! give me the camera!" the guy said something like, "uh, the batteries are dead," (yeah right), but thankfully the teacher grabbed the camera and took the memory card out. at this point, everyone was gathering around, waiting to turn their tests in, watching this guy throw his future away. what an idiot!!! i'm pretty sure you can get expelled for cheating at our university! taking a picture's not even sly! it's the most obvious form of cheating i've ever seen! i don't know what has happened as far as consequences, but he took the kid's name and phone number down. the kid could just be really dumb, or maybe he was paid to go in and take pictures, or maybe he wasn't really in that class at all...i don't know. but i do know that i work my booty off to do well in school, and nobody is going to get it for free on my watch! ha!!!

well, that was our first test. hopefully the second test will be a whole lot less eventful!!!

Wow, I can't believe someone would be so blatant! We were not allowed to view our A&P exams afterward because people had been selling them online. It was irritating not being able to see what mistakes I had made. Near the end of the semester, I was able to go look them over in my professor's office just before the comprehensive final, but it would have been nice to spend more time with them besides writing down the questions I got wrong and the correct answers. Too bad the cheaters ruin it for the rest of us who are studying our way to an early grave.

The cheater did this DURING class, WHILE we were taking the test! We're not allowed to see our exams either unless we make an appointment with the teacher. I didn't do it, but I think that he'll probably only let us write down what we got wrong, if that. Especially after this cheating incident. I agree that it's too bad that the cheaters ruin it for those of us that are working hard and doing our best.

I wanted to say Hi. I am taking A and P II and microbiology this semester. I just got my acceptance letter for August 2007. I am very excited just need to finish off this last two classes. Has anyone started on microbial growth? What books are you using? I am using Microbiology by Tortora Funke Case ninth edition How are you all doing in the class? We had our first test over the first four chapters. The next test is March 8 so it is coming up quickly. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

We are using the same book, we have had a test on chap 1,10 and also another on 4,5,6 I got A's on both and we have a lab practical tomorrow. Our next test is in about another week on 8,9,13. Its going to be a bit more difficult with that pesky genetics chapter. We have not started microbrial growth yet, we are using a lab manual different from our text. I haven't looked ahead yet we skip around in the book so I am not sure what we are doing after the practical.

How many lab practicals will you have? We only have 2. One at the end of March and then the last day of class. You are definitely jumping around in your book. We are going in order. We are on chapters 5,6 and 7. The test will be over these 3 chapters. I see you did 5 an 6 already. How many questions did you have on the test? We will have 40 and 60 minutes to c omplete it.
