Wayne County Community College District

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi Everyone! I attend Wayne County Community College District. I was wondering if anyone new anything about WCCCD's nursing program. Do they have a waiting list? If so, how long is the waiting list. Any info given will be helpful. Thanks!

I haven't heard many things about Henry Ford's program. But I have a friend that attends Schoolcraft College, who just got her Associate's. She plans on leaving Schoolcraft because their waiting list is like 3 years.

I am surprised there are not more responses from Wayne County CC nurse graduates and student RN's, our school takes in the most applicants in the area. 240 spots a year. I did notice there are a lot of Henry Ford CC students on the Michigan site. I have considered applying for their program as well as Schoolcraft's program as well. I have heard Schoolcraft's reputation is worth waiting a year to get in. Anyone else hear things like that??

I have not heard anything in regards to Schoolcrafts program other then it takes a long time to get into. Henry Ford takes a year to get into, there program seems solid but because of the in distric vs out of distric price it is costly for a CC. I have heard that Washtenaw CC's program is nice, it also has a waiting list but they do give president for residency...so if you know someone ;) .

Anyway I am going CRAZY waiting for this letter to come....Give updates if you receive yours anytime soon!

BTW I forgot my other ID so I just made a new one! Formally SGN06 now SGN_06 LOL.

I didn't think about the tuition at Henry Ford, just assumed it was relatively affordable, but you bring up a good point. I called the nursing office at WCCCD yesterday and asked what week the letters might be sent out, she wouldn't say, she just said sometime in July. She did mention that July is next week, so don't know if that was a hint or not. I will definately post, when I receive my letter. Please do the same. I wonder if we got in? It is driving me batty not knowing.

Hi all,

This is my first post and reading all of the WCCCD students post for over a year now. I am finishing my pre-reqs and co-reqs now. I will be applying for the program in the Spring of 2007 at WCCCD. I'll be attending the nursing information session on July 13 and taking my NET in August.

My sister completed the nursing program at WCCCD in December 2005 and passed her boards on the first try. She's been very encouraging to me through this process.

But to all my fellow WCCCD students out there, keep the faith and stay focused.

Hey Virginia!

Before attending the meeting on July 13, call and make sure they did not change it. I was also planning on attending and they said it was moved to July 27. Please call to make sure.

The date was changed to July 27 at 4:00. It will be held at the Downriver Campus instead of the Northwest Campus. Does anyone have any idea what goes on at the information meetings?

They tell you the dates for the application meetings. They tell you what you need to apply, pre-req. and they tell the way the pick the 120 people they let in, sort of. Other then that....its a long meeting of telling you if you are wanting money and that is the only reason you are doing nursing it isnt a good match for you because it is a lot of work. They stress that you should get all the co-req's that are not nursing classes out of the way before you are in the program and that your shouldnt work a 40hr job during the program and stuff like that. If you are ready to apply they MIGHT give you an application at the meeting but they didnt give me one dispite it saying they would. Hope that sums it up for you

It lasts around an hour and a half. The discussion is on what you need to do to apply and also a discussion on some of the rumors going around. It is informative. You now get your application at the application meetings. So if you have a copy of the info for applying to the program, the info meeting covers everything on that literature.

Hi there, that is awesome your sis is a grad. I bet she does have alot of encouragement for you. I have wondered how the grads do on the boards. That is good news to hear that she passed on her first try. Did she already have a job lined up before she graduated?? I have a hospital in mind where I would like to work, but I have to get accepted first. I am still waiting for that letter to come...any day now. Good luck to you on your application also. When I applied on May 24th, there were a lot of people there. Make sure you have absolutely everything in order when you do apply. The background check has two pages, so make sure you print them both out. Hope you get in!! On myspace.com there are some grads pages on there. They graduated a few years ago and they both have awesome jobs. One is a flight nurse as well as an ER nurse. The other works at U of M. Keep up the good work and good luck to you.

Just wondering why SGN_06 post is under my name??? That is too weird and I don't know how that got there. SGN_06 do you know how your post got under my screen name??

Thanks for the info! I haven't finished all my pre-req's, but I'm just about done. I still wanted to attend an information meeting. Just so I can know everything ahead of time. Do you think that it would be wise?
