Wayne County Community College District

Hi Everyone! I attend Wayne County Community College District. I was wondering if anyone new anything about WCCCD's nursing program. Do they have a waiting list? If so, how long is the waiting list. Any info given will be helpful. Thanks!

I went early before I even started the pre-reqs. good thing that I did because it really showed what pre-reqs you need... the main cataloge for the college is incorrect and a lot of the list you get in the counsiling offices are incorrect as well. Plus it lets you get down and understand what is required of you. Like I said I went just after finishing BIO 155 before I started the pre-reqs for nursing...also I did complete ALL co-reqs so basically when/if I get into their program this fall (no, no one knows if they got in, this place produces mail about as fast as a constipated person purduces a turd) I will only have to do nursing classes. From what I hear the first 8 weeks of the nursing program is hell and that is just nursing classes not anything else... so I could imagine that it would be really bad if you had another class to finish along with this program...

I am currently taking 13 credit hours for the summer..the last classes I needed SOC100, DT130,BIO252, and Eng120. Although it makes me bang my head and wish I had a vacation I am really happy that it is done NOW rather then waiting and trying to fit it in somewhere along the way.

I can be honest with you...I took a LOT of online courses(doesnt mean they are easier some are but some are harder), in fact the only classes I have had that were in person is A&P I and II and DT 130. Everything else has been online and this semesters SOC100 is a telecourse. I would say that if they had offered DT130 online i would of taken that (they are next semester as well as SOC 100 online). Anyway A&P needs a class and that really is the only one I found that I cared to have a class for but online classes are not for everyone, but I REALLY like them. SO if you need any online teacher suggestions I dont mind helping you with that.

I am going into my second year of pre-req's. I took all of Spring semester online. Fall semester I will have 16 credit hours. I will be taking DT 130, Eng 250, Lifespan Development online. Bio 155 and Math 112. I am a little skeptical of Bio 155, so hopefully you could let me know what I'm looking forward to. Also what was the Net like? Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for? What really are the pre-req's needed for nursing since the list I got from the office is incorrect? Thanks!

BIO 155 isnt a pre-req of nursing nor a co-req. :D I didnt take that online but I have heard very good things about the online class.

HSC200 online is Great you will like it.

The pre-reqs are:

A&P 1 and 2

Eng 110

Microbiology

Psy101

I know some of the lists do not have psy 101 as a pre-req. The NET is easy but if you are rusty in math then take that first and THEN take the NET cause the net is heavy math and its all mental math so even if the teacher allows for calculators Try without.

Other then that make sure you have a good A&P teacher as you will use it a lot and the foundation is the most important step.

Then be sure to not stress to much, take deep breaths and plug away.

I meant to say that I am taking Bio 155 and Math 112 on campus. Who are some good instructors for Bio 155 or other science classes?

This class is no joke. It was tougher than all the science classe put together. It is an overview of all the biology areas. I struggled and worked very hard in this class, which happened to be my first class. I did make my A', but worked very hard for it. On the up side, I learned a great deal in this class. Are you saying you took Nutrition online? I didn't know you could take it that way?

Is the lab with Bio 155 hard? I never had to take lab in high school. I am taking Nutrition this fall online. I heard that this was the first time it will be offered online.

I have taking all of my classes online so far. My online classes so far : Bio 155, Bio 295, Bio 240(current), Eng 110, Eng 120, Psy 101, PS 101, Soc 100 (current telecourse) and I will be taking DT 130 this fall online. Bio 250 will be my first totally on campus class since I started school.

I personally love online classes. They are a little harder in that it takes a lot of self motivation and discipline. But if it wasn't for online classes their is no way I could have completed all those classes as quickly as I did.

Really? How was the science classes online? I thought that they would be really hard. I know that you have to go to lab on campus certain days. Did that make it any harder?

The online science classes were great. It was a lot of extra reading. You read you text but you also have to read your lecture (i actually like the reading of the lecture). Bio 155 teacher did PP presentations of his lectures so you could download it and hear his voice and watch the slides, pause it take notes or refer back to it while studying. Bio 295 had a great professor, she gave "online lecture" which were written and very thorough.

You still get 30 hours of lab time. 5 times a semester for 6 hours usually on Friday or Saturday mornings.

It was harder because you have to discipline yourself to do you work at your own pace but keep up with the assignments. For Eng 110 we only had two due dates, midterm and finals. I could have wait until the last minute to do my work but instead I disciplined myself to do the assignments weekly.

Hello everyone!!! I'm new to this forum. I had a problem. I wanted to go thru the online class for A & P 1 this fall '06 but it was already close. Does anyone know how to get in the waiting seat? Cause I saw online it says waiting seats. Geez, I really need to get in the class for online for A & P 1 so I can take the part 2 in jan '06 and apply... please, any suggestions?

When did they start A and P I online?? This must be new. I would recommend you take this class on campus. It is a very involved class. It has a lab also. I don't know how to help you with the wait list thing, but I would recommend you take this in a classroom. Both A and P I and II are very involved classes, I could not imagine taking them online. I have taken 4 classes online so far. I am done with my pre req's and to all those who are still taking them, I wish you the best of luck. I know some people's schedule's are very busy, but the science classes are kind of tough and sometimes being in a classroom with other students helps out a lot. Good luck to you.

Has anyone waiting for their "letter" received any news on them yet? I am hoping they will come this week. I am getting very anxious waiting.

:lol2: HA! My post was going to be about the long awaited "letter". I am not waiting for the letter for Fall, but my turn will come up for January. I am sitting here thinking it is JULY 10! Where are the darn letters? :angryfire
