and MDC also has a BSN program now too

You are not eligible for MDC's BSN track as you need to already have your RN liscense in order to enroll. It is a RN-BSN bridge program only

Nice to finally to hear that someone has applied for the same semester. Have you finished your NRG 051? If so, how was it? Would you be so kind as to send me a Private Message when you hear from the school. That way I know that they are sending out letters. I am so far away and curious as to how they will announce who is in (letters, email, phone call etc). Have you been able to get any word on how many applied for this term. I really hope we get in, I so ready to get back to "civilization" and my family. Please feel free to contact me.

thank you everyone who responded back to my message. It helped alot. I do not want to apply for the bsn program because i want to be able to just do the acclerated in one year in miami dade and then hopefully work as an icu nurse and then apply to become a crna which is a masters and two years. thank you gradrn you helped alot and def. not i will never do teaching lol. I am trying to apply for the fall semester which the deadline is may 1. I graduate from fiu with my bachelors now in april and they told me since i will have a bachelors i can later apply for the masters program after working at least one year as an icu nurse. Thank you for all your help

I thought for a CRNA you needed a bachelors from nursing to get into the masters program. That is so cool that all you need is a BSN.

well I spoke to fiu and um and they told me you need to be an rn, work for at least one year as an icu and have a bach. to apply. fiu told me that while I am doing the program they will put in like a couple extra courses so that I can also get a bsn in nursing, but if you go to their websites you can see how crna programs ask in order to apply. I called um and fiu and asked

sorry butterflyyessy let me correct myself. I am currently going to graduate with a bachelors in biology which is a science degree, from what i see on barry, um , and fiu's websites they don't mind if it's a bachelors in science or if you have bsn in nursing. I mean it makes sense because to have a bachelors in biology i take some courses that are taken in nursing school like i already took microbiology, biochemistry, organic 1 and 2 , chem 1 and 2, and to be a crna you need a lot of chemistry. I hope that gave you a better understanding of what i was trying to say. sorry :D by the way i'm a girl not a boy. I know my username does not make it seem like that.:lol2:

LOL! I hope you complete the goa of CRNA. Its a long road, but one well worth it. So far I love nursing school. It has been one of the best experiences for me by far, and the people there are great. The only class I fear is fundamentals lecture. Just because it is so messy and most things are not really even covered in class.

Hi Mortero,

You are on the right track, Bachelors in biology and then the accelerated program...pass the boards and you have your RN in 1 year. hopefully you won't have to wrok during the program but i know people who did parttime...

If you work where I do they sent me to the aarn class and it was very intense but a good review...its a month long and they paid..you do need a year of critical care work as an RN then you can sit for the exam, whereas I have to still do the BSN thing..slowly. Best of luck to you!

BTW what most worries me is my horrible money situation. They just took my daycare help again, and I am at my wits end with what am I going to do next. I mean WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been crying and crying just thinking that what will I ever do if I can not go to nursing school after coming so far, if I have to stay home taking care of the kids instead, because I have no one to help me. I know it is a stressful time, school and real life is not easy, but there is a light at the end.

Just think about those patients that need you, and that everything will be ok. No matter what comes your way it is just another sign that things will in the end get easier. We have been here from the beggining cheering one another on, and there is still a lot of cheering to do before we finish. So let it be, and lets get studying. I love nursing school I do, I love what I am learning, and I love what we will be doing at the end, which is helping patients. That to me is something amazing. Just keep the big picture in mind always.

Have you explored the possibility of MDC's Online nursing program. It may not be your ideal choice, but it is something to explore if you are ever pushed to the point of HAVING to stay home. Just a thought.

I have taken online classes before, and they have worked a ton, but for nursing there is no room for error. I am way to afraid to even hop on that wagon. I am scared to death of failing. I like going on campus for nursing, because if I try to take another exit I might just end up behind anyway.

hey butterflyyessy i'm glad you like nursing school and good luck. i know the crna is a 2 year masters program, but i'm 20 and still young so its not that bad lol. Gradrn thanks for your info, no i don't need to work if i get into the acclerated program because im 20 and im still living at home and my parents ar supportive as long as im studying. I also took up alot of classes at fiu a semester to finish young and on time because i applied to dental school and got in but ot of florida state but i don't care for that anymore or to leave. I love florida and being with my family is very important. :D
