Creighton
Katsie- I have yet to submit my full package to Creighton. If you don't mind, can you PM me so we can discuss what you submitted. I was filling the app and got stuck on ther personal statement. I should be finishing all that up within the next 2 weeks or so. I'd love to discuss how quick they went through your app and package. Thanks for you response! p.s. I don't live in AZ, i'm actually from Miami, Fl.

Hi, I'm not a male but I was curious on how your studies are going at Creighton. Hopefully, I will be starting the ACC program in Jan 2011 and needed someone's insight. If you don't mind please share your experience so far. I have many questions: Rigors of the course load? Financial aid/planning? How much study time is needed? To work or not to work? THanks!

Who knows?! I applied to the transitional program, so I'm not sure if they send their letters at the same time. If they do, you should be receiving a letter this week. I was told they mailed them out a few days ago. Good Luck! Hopefully you're in!

Thank you for your vote of confidence...It means a lot. I am bummed but I am so lucky in other aspects that I can't really let it get me down. I've already started re-arranging my plans and Life is Good! Plus, I always have that snowball's chance... Thanks again for your support! ~Lu Baghdad

Well I just got word that the letters were mailed out and I am NOT on the initial batch. Actually, Im 13th on back-up. Sigh! Obviously, I am not optimistic. I cant imagine a situation where 13 applicants would refuse to attend. So..it's back to the ol' drawing board, I suppose. I will set my views on the August term and see what happens. until then, I will remain overseas and make my money and take some more classes. Thanks to all that offered your insight. ~Lu Baghdad

Thanks again. Luckily, I have all my vaccinations and records. My mother is one of those parents that kept everything important in its original form. Plus, Ive been through medic school and work in environments where proof of vaccinations have to furnished frequently. The PPD information is extremely helpful because I can get that done here, easily. Thanks. I have a lot of time on my hands here, so all I think about is school and planning for the day I get accepted. I know there is possibility that I may not, but I prefer to stay optimistic. If and when I am accepted, I will have to rush to get out of here. Pack my stuff, quit my job, fly across the Atlantic, re-unite with my family etc. It's a lot to do when you factor in that this news may come in at the end of Oct and the semester starts in Jan (not to mention that nothing gets done at Xmas break time). Sooo, I guess what Im trying to say is that the more "little" things I can get out of the way the better and smoother this transition will be for me. Thanks again Southern Ash.... Please feel free to share any other important information, concerns or even gripes!! All is welcome.

hey thanks for the info. This is exactly what I was looking for. Could you elaborate on the 2 PPDs. I work in an occupational health clinic (in Iraq) so I am familiar with the PPDs, but why two? Also, in what intervals do they want them in. Are the vaccines you mentioned all we'll need? It would be very helpful to know exactly since I would be able to get those taken care of before I leave here. As for the 5 panel drug test, where would you go get one of those done? We do those here but due to the sensitivity of the test, I know they will not accept just "any" test. Aside from that, I guess I will stash away the 55 bucks for the background check. Although I have not been accepted yet, I like to be prepared. Especially since the transition I have to make will be a large one. I want to get as much of the small stuff out of the way. Thanks again!

Hi there, Hope all is well in Nursing Land. I am still anxiously waiting the letter from Miami Dade College. I haven't the slightest idea on when they are supposed to mail them out but I would assume it is soon. The semester is supposed to start early January so I would think they would have to send them out at least by November right? Anyone out there have any experience or insight on this? I know the Fall Semester ends on December 18 and campus is closed during that time; so that closes the window in even further. Also, for those of you currently in your first semester, would you be able to provide me with the list of books that are required for the 1st semester. I purchased a Nursing Fundamentals book (because it was cheap on eBay) to get some pre-emptive reading done. I would appreciate if I got a feel of what the book situation was going to look like. Also, any insight on what to expect from the "Orientation" (im thinking positively here!) would be helpful. Thanks again to those of you that continue to provide valuable advice and/or insight on this forum. Your attention is greatly appreciated! ~Lu :heartbeat Baghdad

Miami Dade College Transitional Nursing program
Hi sorry for the delay but Ive been wrapped in other things. I will look for the guide and let you know how many pages. It's basically one of those books that teaches you how to take the test more effectively. As for the actual, nursing content you may be able to find that in a Nursing fundamentals book. I am a Medic and a lot the patient assessment stuff was easy but I was in the dark about the "Nursing process". If I were you, Id study that.

Have you explored the possibility of MDC's Online nursing program. It may not be your ideal choice, but it is something to explore if you are ever pushed to the point of HAVING to stay home. Just a thought.

Nice to finally to hear that someone has applied for the same semester. Have you finished your NRG 051? If so, how was it? Would you be so kind as to send me a Private Message when you hear from the school. That way I know that they are sending out letters. I am so far away and curious as to how they will announce who is in (letters, email, phone call etc). Have you been able to get any word on how many applied for this term. I really hope we get in, I so ready to get back to "civilization" and my family. Please feel free to contact me. ~Lu baghdad

Go Coasties! My brother is a CWO in the USCG. Been in 23 years. Sweet, sweet career. All the military boys over here are always jealous. Sure beats the dust and sand in Iraq. I am still waiting to hear from MDC. I applied for the Transitional program and the deadline just passed on Sep 1. So, it's the waiting game. Im trying not to pull my hair out. It is just so frustrating to want to make that next move in your life but finding it completely out of your control. *Sigh* Has anyone else applied or heard from the Transitional program (Jan 09)? ~Lu
