Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

Hello! I was trying to see if I can find information online as to when we get notified from MDC for nursing and came across this forum. I absolutely LOVE THIS! I was scrolling through some of the conversations quickly and signed up. How do you guys know that it is 8 more days till they let us know? I have called MDC and they have been telling me to check my email everyday through October and that is how they will let me know.

Welcome and the last group for spring they got their notifications around the 15 that's why we believe ours will be sent oround that time :) what's your gpa

It all depends on your circumstances. For example, I am mother of two, my youngest is just 5 months, I can't go full time because of the economical burden it will place on my family (child care expenses are awful!). I REFUSE to take out a loan and have to deal with paying off debt after I graduate. I rather do the old fashion save and pay my way through school than be a new grad RN working to pay off loans, but that's just me. Do what is best for you. The end goal is to achieve your dream of becoming an RN no matter how long it takes. Wish you the best BLNurse!

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I'm also paying for the program out of pocket. I don't qualify for financial aid bc I have excess of credits. Thanks and good luck friend. We all will make it.

My GPA is a 3.61. I'm really hoping I get accepted. I have been so anxious.

For those who have questions about the entrance exam we do not have one as of now. According to the MDC Testing page (NLN PAX RN - Testing - Miami Dade College) "As of now, an entrance exam is no longer required for admission to the Nursing program. The NLN PAX RN exam was used for entrance into the fall 2014 semester.

Effective after the September 2013 application deadline the TEAS exam was also no longer used as the entrance exam for the Nursing program. Previous TEAS scores were only acceptable through the September 2013 deadline"

They take 40% of your total GPA and 60 % from the sciences courses) I called and they said starting next week !!!

I have a feeling that the 1st round of acceptance letters will be sent on October 16 after 4 pm. The trend for Spring has been the Thursday after the second half of the month. Hopefully it will be the same this year and we find out by the end of next week who got in.

Also the 2nd round of emails is sometime at the start of november, and a 3th round is closer to orientation date, so i am guessing a week or so before November 20. Lets see how my prediction goes!!

Also those of you that have high hoped that they for sure will get in, should register for the CPR class to avoid last minute rush. I am taking it next saturday on Medical Campus.

I paid 79.00 like two months ago. They say: go prepared for 6 hrs but it was almost 4.
