Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Published

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

I remember signing that too when I applied. And I think we add the classes ourselves but it has to be in the correct order by semester as stated on the website. However, if you are curious, you can already check out the class times by searching the classes by your program. I already looked up the clinical sites and the course number for the one I want. That way, as soon as the class registration opens up, I can quickly add that clinical site lol :)

By the way, I went to the fingerprint place in Coral Gables and it was also very quick, 5 minutes max. Be sure to bring the paper they email you! I didn't have mine and I thought they'd print it for me but they told me to come back with it. I didn't have to make an appointment to come back either, I guess appointments are not really necessary since they are so quick.

Hi, Can you please explain how to check clinical sites?

Hi, Can you please explain how to check clinical sites?

Sure, I went to this link: https://sisvsr.mdc.edu/student/openclass/NewSearchM.aspx

For term I put Spring.

Then go to this website to see the courses that you need to take (I posted the accelerated one, but you can click the generic or bridge to see your specific classes): https://www.mdc.edu/medical/Nursing/rn_accelerated_ft.asp

The clinicals for me are NUR1025L and NUR1211L. That is the Course ID. So when you search, just find the ones that say your program type: Accelerated or Generic or Bridge. Sorry if I was confusing. Let me know if you need clarification.

Thank you! So I do see the site now, but for example, when they put Jackson Plaza/Jackson North - which hospital do they mean? The one on 168th in North Miami or the one in Downtown? Or I see this option for Accelerated students MIAMI JEWISH HOME & UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI - does this mean it will be at 2 sites?

That's a good question, I don't know. When I Google Jackson Plaza and Jackson North it's two different places. Idk if the google locations are the actual locations. It looks like on Tuesdays we go to one location and Wednesdays we go to the second location. If anyone knows for sure, please let us know :)

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Yes, that means you're be doing clinical at both places. Jackson plaza & Jackson North are two different facilities.

Hours of study per day ? That's all I want to know. I'm not in yet, applying for fall 2015. Thanks.

I was wondering the same thin on Jackson Plaza and Jackson Plaza North, since it has both even for when the class only meets one day.

BLNurse If you actually dedicate hours everyday to study, i'd say 3-4.

By the way, about Jackson Plaza and Jackson North (don't know if anyone has answered), you'll be doing the first half of the semester at Jackson Plaza (an ALF right behind medical campus) & the second half of the semester at Jackson North (the hospital).

Question ..

In searching the classes … Sem1 Seq 1 and then Sem 1 Seq 2 … Does anybody know what this means? For now I am sticking to Sem 1 Seq 1 . assuming Sem=semester and seq=sequence. Thanks
