Miami Dade College Spring 2016 nursing program admission

Updated:   Published

Good morning/night to all who are reading this,

I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).

Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

I am curious also. Do you guys have classes Monday thru Friday? 8am to 4pm? or is it every other day with clinicals?

thank you

It depends. Some people get all their classes on mon-tues, mon-wed, mon-thurs or even classes on saturday.

It will be that way for the first month. Clinicals will be on thursday or friday.

Yes there are classes that start at 8am and some at 4pm. It depends on how early you pick your classes and whether you work or not. Goodluck guys

Hi everyone, i have a question, I was wondering if I have to take chemistry before I can enroll in the nursing program or if taking it concurrent is an option?

Hey, don't know if this has already been asked but how long did it take for you to get notified of you were accepted. And was it through email?

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I am scheduled to take the HESI in two days (4/12). Can anyone give me any pointers and what I should study the most? I heard the A&p section is a little tough. I am scared of chemistry.

My science GPA is 3.8. Anybody else applying for fall '16??

Good Morning! Is there anybody that can provide me with sample sessions for the full time associate program (generic) and the possibility of working while studying? thanks!!

What do you mean by sample sessions? Like the schedule? It varies depending on what classes you pick, they have different times for each class.

You can work during the program, but make sure is not one of those jobs that have no flexibility, because sometimes times change, clinicals are moved last minute, things like that.

Were you able to work 40 hours of a flexible job?

Hi, I'm applying for the fall. I'm taking the hesi soon. How did your test go? Any pointers? I'm super nervous....

I wouldn't say that's entirely impossible because I'm sure there are people out there who is a superman/woman. PERSONALLY, I think you will be setting yourself up for failure by working 40 hours and attempt to accomplish nursing school successfully. I'm not sure about part time, but with full time generic they only recommend 8 hours or less. I work 10 hours a week and I have not seen sleep in the past 4 months. Nursing program is nothing like pre req classes. You will NEED 150% of pure dedication of studying in order to pass classes. But then again, I'm only speaking from my experience.

Hey MissPichu thanks for all that info. I was wondering if you have any more info on the accelerated program. Like how hard is it compared to the generic, how many times a week they have school and is it possible to work like once a week in the accelerated program. Any info would be appreciated.
