Miami Dade College Spring 2016 nursing program admission

Updated:   Published

Good morning/night to all who are reading this,

I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).

Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

Hey! Taking pre-reqs now, I was just wondering if you guys could tell me what HSC0003 Intro to Healthcare is like. It says 90 clock hours required.

When I took it, it was easy. We just learned hospital rules/laws and medical terms. It wasn't long either.

Got an A in that class .. It was super easy

Has anybody received their syllabus from their nursing professors yet? I have

I got my syllabus for Fundamentals. I'm just looking at the very end at all the "required" textbooks. They're 6! I don't know about you but the main fundamentals book is fat enough. You think maybe they meant recommended, because on the curriculum I only see the main book listed for required reading. Besides didn't we get a paper during orientation that listed all the books we needed for remainder of the program?

Specializes in Surgical transplant.

Just buy the fundamentals one, potter/perry one. Tha'ts all u need. Rent it if you can...don't get the med surg book now either, that's for second semester....if u can get the nclx saunders "purple" book, I just recently bought it and i wish i wouldve had it earlier, it really does helpp and it condenses the chapters a lot, because those fundamental chapters are soooo long. You can wait until about midterm time to buy it, but its helpful. You can practice questions from there too for the HESI, but do that later... Either way, it's an awesome book to study from, it will be useful the entire program. It's got a huge fundamentals section, and then other huge sections for the other areas during second, third and fourth semester.

I went to Jackson today and apparently my name wasn't on the list.... anyone came across the same problem?

Did you complete the orientation session for Jackson before going? They should have done it at school at some point. If not it would be fine you dont start clinicals until a month after you start classes.

So basically other than the math(dosage calculations), there's not too much you can do to other than wait till class starts and take things as they come?

Also regarding the scrubs, are you sure they won't notice different scrubs, even with the emblem embroiled? Seems like this year they were really stressing wearing scrubs by and only by MDC medical bookstore.

As always thanks in advance Eru ?

You can start reading the nursing books if that makes you feel better, just start on chapter 1 I guess LOL.

They always say the same on all orientations that the uniform is important, but is the same professors so they dont realle care.

any advice to buy the white shoes? completely white are hard to find.

I bought them on sckechers, memory foam very comfy
