Good morning/night to all who are reading this,
I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).
Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

Do you have to get an xray now? Also were your titer issues a matter of your blood or a mess up on their part?
I had a bad reaction with my ppd as well. I got my second one today and it looks like I'm going to end up getting an X-ray.
Questions for those who are going to the homestead campus. Did the orientation time change? I thought it said 830, and I looked today and it now says 9. Not sure if it changed or I just didn't pay attention.
Hi everyone! Didn't realize someone had asked me a question about the NCLEX book I previously mentioned in a post. The book is the Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN exam by Linda Anne Silvestri. It has really great summaries of everything and also has questions. I like it because it is a quick overview of important things for each section. Make sure you get a new one because the online code is invaluable. Most of our class has used it to study for the HESI exams which we have to take for many of the classes. I use mine so much pages are starting to fall out!
The ISBN number for the book is:978-1-4557-2755-1
You can use that code to find the book or order it at any book store.
The other book of just the questions is ok and will be helpful but the one that everyone is using is the Comprehensive review one.
They are crazy on the mdc clinic I had my sencond ppd on friday they put it the wrong way too deep and I had blood on it I knew it will give me troubled I had to do the xrays today I will have all my titters ready for tuesday, I hope, you never know with them. That's how it looks 5 seconds after she put it, they want papers, blood and your money too
Hey guys I've been looking over the student handbook for generic. For clinicals we need "All white, clean leather medical professional shoes or white sneakers (no clogs, heels, showershoes, or color sneakers etc.)" What the hell are medical professional shoes if they're not clogs? Every nurse I've seen in a hospital wears dansko or some other variation of that.
At this point I'm tired of guessing what I need that the school permits, I'm just getting plain white sneakers, been needing those anyway. It's like they want to be confusing so you give up trying to figure it out and just go buy everything overpriced at the bookstore. Really $30 for half of a scrubs set, um no thanks. My friend told me they don't police for the bottoms but I know from previous threads that the colors HAVE to match or you'll be sent home T-T. I'm thinking of buying two bottoms (my choice), two tops, one clinical top.
BTW how are you guys planning on taking notes? I'm halfway between trying something new or sticking to loose leaf paper in a binder. Do any of you guys use a Surface or Ipad to take digital notes? I wonder if something like the boogie board sync would work for nursing school.

Just wait until orientation. We should have enough time to buy what we need.
