Miami Dade College Spring 2016 nursing program admission

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Good morning/night to all who are reading this,

I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).

Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

Hi, I got 78 HESI and 3.5 science GPA, If I not get in Miami Dade I will apply at Larkin nursing school

Do you think we have a chance , the wait is too much. We should support each other like in other years, it will help others, which program are you applying

Hi, which program are you applying,( generic, bridge or accelerated) Homestead or Dade

Thanks

Generic FT, because there is not part time Spring

We have the same sum 81.8 I hope we both get accepted, if you find any type of information that could make our wait better let me know, thanks

How do u calculate the score between HESI and GPA? I heard that people were accepted (2014 or before)with a HESI or teas score below 80....

Ok the hesi score you multiplied by 0.6 and the science GPA if you have for example 3.5 will be 35 points and you add both. Did you applied for spring too?

Congratulations that is a great score do you mind telling me how did you study for it?

I haven't applied yet...I took the HESI on 07/31, so I still can retake the HESI (08/31 last day) in order to get a better grade and then apply the same day or on 09/01 which is the last day

So what is the best HESI scored that you think is best or that would get you in? Their minimum is 65 so getting an 85 or 86 is not bad. Is it?

Yes, 85 or 86 is awesome. I read all the treats from previous years when they used the teas and everybody with combined 80 and above got in and some with less too we have to see how many people apply. I did my hesi 8\5 and the girl the work there told me only 130 had done it. But a lot of people leave for last minute or repeated. Are you applying too?

If you're taking classes for the fall that means your not starting till august of 2016. Right??

I am so saddddd, I applied yesterday for generic full time and did the HESI 8/5. I did all my math by hand, had a problem with the calculator, so I got 74% and I don't have time to retake for Spring, anyone in the same situation my science GPA is 3.73. The total of all sum is 81.73. I am very desperate someone in the same situation, please help and advise, thanks

What do you mean a problem with the calculator. If that happens to my I would have to leave. I need the pop up calculator. Lol. I wanted to ask you. Where there a lot of Physics and Chemistry questions on the HESI. I'm still studying.
