Hey everyone,
I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.
I will start:
I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)
Hi all, just wondering if anyone had applied to any other nursing programs for fall? I applied to FKCC and was accepted but MDCC is still my first choice.
Hello nrpie,
I am actually interested in going to FKCC, have turned in my application but doubt I will get in the Spring. Are you at FKCC now or MDCC? It would be great to hear about your experience if you don't mind.
Hi, Congrats to everyone that got accepted to MDC for spring 2003. I am currently in my first semester of the generic full time program. I am loving it so far. I heard so many stories about how difficult nursing school was going to be that I almost changed my mind about attending. Since starting in August I have been so relieved to find that it is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. My advice for those starting in spring is to take it one day at a time, get organised and definitely read. I am working full time days and still getting good grades so its definitely not impossible but you just have to be focused and not allow yourself to get overwhelmed. I am not on here much since I started school but if there is anything that you guys need to ask that I can help you with I will be more than happy to do so.:)
Hello, I have been worried lately because Barry University denied me for having 3 F's and 1 w. My current GPA is a 3.5 (still low) and my natural sciences are 4.0. Regarding MDC's program, many people say that it is just your natural sciences and TEAS score; however, how can MDC skip through those F's, and it not effect there overall view. Do I have a chance to get into MDC or Nova?

I am not sure how Nova works, but it has a great completion rate, and you would need to ask someone from there. I went to MDC. The way the associates works is that you transfer only in your chemistry, microbiology, a & p 1 and 2, English, and math. Since I graduated, they have changed it to include Teas score. This is if you are applying to the generic nursing program or part-time program. If you have experience in the health field, CNA, EMT, LPN or other medical experience you would go into the bridge program. Rumor is the bridge is easier to get into.
So to answer your question, they only transfer in the required classes, and your GPA starts from there. The F grades or withdrawals do not transfer in. If you do not meet the prereqs you just have to take them.

You will need to contact both schools to see if you have a shot or not.
Did you retake those F's/W classes? What classes where they?
Hopefully your bad grades are not in the science classes. Because if they are you may/will have trouble getting in most school you apply to .
Your overall GPA is a 3.5? And all your science are 4.0?
If that's your GPA you have a great shot. But you would need over a 80 on the teas to get in. A score of 85 to 90 would be most ideal. (To make up for your bad grades)
