Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

@Canelaw99 Did you do the Student Self-Assessment? That's supposed to be done as well.

@unatalcynthia I have Thomas for fundamentals and we are supposed to cover Ch. 28 the first day. The topics she has listed on the syllabus are Principles of Asepsis and Protective Precautions.

hello,

I wanted to know if anyone can tell me times of fulltime and partime, I work from 8 to 5pm monday thru friday and I wanted to more or less know the times so I can decide what option works best for me and my family. Thanks in advance!

Also i heard something about an online option? can someone please elaborate on this?? Thanks!

not sure about ft or pt...I am in the accelerated(M-F 7-11am lect/skills lab-depending on professors and clinicals 7-2pm tues and wed)..there is bridge (lpn-rn)online program...

There is no "on-line" option for nursing at MDC. In full time, classes fall between 8 am (start) and near 6 pm (end); off-site clinicals generally start at 7 am. Aside from that, classes have a habit of moving around. It will be different each semester. If you're going to work, it had better be part-time or over night, and be very flexible.

I don't know about part-time. You can go on the MDC Nursing Web site to find the list of classes you'd take each semester, and a couple of months before class starts, you'll be able to find the class schedules on-line. ( Miami Dade College Student Portal, then click on "Search for Classes." You don't need to log in to do it.)

The part-time lecture classes are generally from 6:00pm to about 8:30 ish once a week. The clinicals should be on Saturdays and they start at 7:00 am and last until 2:30ish.

Sometimes the Saturday clinicals go quickly, and only the clinicals during the week are offered which may be on Thursday or Friday from 7:00 until 2:30ish.

Ideally, one would have a work schedule that would allow you to change the days quickly on those occasions that one must come in during normal business work hours.

I heard through the grapevine that Broward College has an online program where you come in for clinicals. I would not recommend doing lectures totally online though unless you are sure you can study this way.

Hello Everyone:
