Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

Hi @ngel, I have a friend who already did the achieve and she told me that is not hard but it took her, I think, like 2 hours to complete it.

where do you guys recommend to buy good tennis shoes without a logo?

At medical campus they said we can wear regular tennis shoes any color to class and the white ones for clinicals

Does anyone know if it would be the same for homestead?? Are homestead students wearing the all green scrubs to class everyday?

Good morning everyone!!!

Do you have any idea of what we are going to do during the month we are not going to have clinicals? I mean do you know if during that time we just have free time or they usually make us do something else?

we have class during that month. they will teach us about protocol and rules of being in the hospital during that month. it will be a whole month of prep for clinicals.

ACHIEVE INFO

- ok so heres he deal i did it at medical campus yesterday, its 5 modules all common sense stuff like how to take notes , the only one i found interesting was the clinicals module.

Time:Each module is supposed to take you between 30-40 min for an average time of about 3 hours

Time it took me : 1 hr. to complete

The lowdown: the test is anonymous, you do not complete it through your ATI account you complete it through mdc's account so your results are anonymous, there is no sign in so honestly there is no way they know whether you did it or not unless they ask you for a printout of results ( which do not have your name so technically you can show some one elses results if you were so inclined)

How i finished it so quickly: again many of this stuff is common sense, you can skim thrrough the module to get an idea of the content then go straight to the test and take it multiple times till you receive a score you are satisfied with

Difficulty: Easy i scored over 90 1st time taking each module exam, the only one i really focused on was the clinicals one because that was new info

TIP: if you do not have money to print there, save the pdf to my documents and email them to yourself to print them at home or your office for free

Questions: each module exam has between 15-18 questions pertaining to the module, not timed

i think i answered everything here any questions just ask

alp06,

did you get your shoes with a logo on it? Medical campus don't want any logo

I asked Dr. Yates at the Medical Campus and she said she didn't want the logos with any crazy colors. Logos/brand names are ok as long as the entire sneaker/shoe is white.

That's weird because last tuesday At the seminar, a student asked about the shoes and She said we could wear any tennis shoes to classes and to lab sessions BUT we have to wear all white shoes to clinicals.

Quick question...random, I know. What classes are used to weigh the "sciences" GPA for MDC applicants?

Hey guys. This is my first semester applying for fin aid at MDC. Does it usually take so long for funds to be disbursed? I keep calling them and they keep telling me my file is still being processed. Has anyone received their fin aid yet? School starts in a week! Fortunately I had a back-up way to pay for classes!! Also, would anyone mind posting a list of supplies you've bought? I don't want to forget anything when I fInally get to go shopping!! Thanks!!

How did you challenge the CNA exam. I am interested in challenging the LPN exam. I stilll have 3 classes left, but am out of money, and just recently seperated.
