Miami Dade College Fall 2015 RN Program

Published

Hey guys,

I figured I should share what I know about the Fall 2015 application so far.

So far this is what I know:

  1. Spring 2015 students do not need an entrance exam - let's see if they keep it this way for Fall 2015 applicants
  2. There will be a mandatory SOS Pre Nursing Bootcamp that will need to be attended upon acceptance to the program.
  3. I called advising today (7/7/14) the receptionist said I should start applying in January, but I'll confirm that once again before then.
  4. 60% sciences and 40% cumulative GPA is still the criteria as far as we know.

I figured this should be a great place for us to share our anxiety about our apps and build some friendships :).

Ok guys. I called. She sounded reassuring. Told me they're still sending letters out until the second week of July.

If that is indeed true, then is there another orientation after the 15/16 or are those students who get accepted in that second week of July only going to be given one week to be able to get all the required documents and medical exams in before the orientation? Unless if what she meant by letters going out in the second of week of July is the rejection emails. 😕

What ? Second week of July ??? Classes starts on 8/24 and with the amount of things we have to do including buying all supplies and uniform. Anyways I just want this to be over for the BEST !!!

Specializes in Surgical transplant.

I asked her if they were sending out a third batch of emails this week, and she said oh yeah don't worry they're still sending out letters until the second week of July. That's how it went. I think she understood I was referring to acceptance emails. She sounded reassuring too...this is the Same thing my friend told me happened last fall, that students in her class got emails in July as well.

I wonder if they're trying to prevent over crowding?

I'm going to have to register for fall just in case I'm left w/out classes. Still working to finish my AA

I called the office today and she said they send out rejections last. They first fill up all the seats then a massive email is sent to students who didn't get in.

She said that will be in July.

I'm already done with my AA what else should I take if I'm still waiting :/

Im starting to study for hesi. if you take it early july u can retake in august before sept 1st. Does anyone know if Broward college takes the hesi? there's nothing online

Yes! BC requires the HESI. You need to get at least a 75% in all sections to qualify, but aim for an 80 or higher.

I took it in April and it wasn't so bad. Learn fractions and the metric system.

There used to be a class for preparation for the hesi at MDC. But not anymore. I only see the toefle exam. Could it be similar to the hesi. Already thinking for a plan B.

Not sure if this is what you're referring to but FYI - The TOEFL is for people who would like to study in the US and have degrees from or went to high school in a country where English is a second language. Nothing to do with nursing. I've taken the TOEFL.

The admission requirements has already changed. Now they only accept no more that a W or F in the required natural science course and 65% of Hesi
